I like having this thread all to myself...

… there’s no one in here… plenty of room, none of the kids running around on my lawn. Elbow room. Ahhhhh…

So when exactly do Jonathan E and Moonpie make an appearance?

All them bikes on that track… it needs a little sumthin’ sumthin’… like a big heavy steel ball, spikes and dudes on roller skates.

You're safe from the abuse charges then

Can you survive the guilty looks and the muttering from the back seat? “Jenny’s mother always arrives early.” If I’m ever out in the afternoon I’m surprised how early parents start arriving to pick their kids up. The best parking places are always taken 40 minutes before school is out. But then arrive 10 to 15 minutes late and you can park where you want.

I'm here!

I was just drooling over the derny’s there, zoned out a little

Or maybe 45 or 50 total with the start up laps when they work up to speed.

is that a drivers name?

or some dutch swear word maybe? (to continue our dutch lesson)

by peterfish on Jan 6, 2009 5:35 PM EST up reply actions

I think

it’s teh name of the champion derny driver. Spelling is probably completely different. But add a few more vowels, an o or two (probably two) and a couple of j’s and it might be recogniseable to a native.

by Monty. on Jan 6, 2009 5:40 PM EST up reply actions

I figured it out! I know what this reminds me of. Horse racing.

Because the jerseys remind me of the jockey’s colors. Each one is different combos of colors easily identifiable. And they ride around in circles going left, left, fast, left, left, fast.

peterfish has it below

I think it’s usually high pressure and no treads. Add in the no brakes and makes ya want to run out and try it doesn’t it? I for one don’t think I’d ever get up to high enough speed to stay ON the track. The bank on some velodromes is scary steep.

CycleGirl

Dekker gave his spring schedule lately. If you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll pull it up for you.

This will probably do for now

and it’s in English. Not what I was thinking of, though. From last month’s interview in CN.

Another team training camp will be followed by his first road race, the Etoile de Bessèges. The Vuelta a AndalucĂa [Ruta Ciclista Del Sol] beckons as an early-season test of form for Dekker before he rides the first ‘serious’ stage race of the year, Tirreno-Adriatico, which he won in 2006. It’s then Classics time for the prodigious Dutchman, with a crack at Milano-Sanremo ahead of the Vuelta a PaĂs Vasco and then the Ardennes Classics. Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège may be some of the defining races of his first few months at Silence-Lotto.

Google is my domestique.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
