I am wondering why Rory Sutherland didn't start.

I hope he isn’t injured. Maybe he just missed his flight?

Ah, my eyes!

But I suppose the color’s to better coordinate with all the yellow jerseys Columbia will snatch this year.

The crappiest jersey in the pro peloton

I’ll bet my entire fotune (1$ 27cents) that Scott had a hand in designing that.

Well I suppose they’re using the tried and tested method from last year to make people ride out of their skin to win jerseys, any jersey except the regular teamjersey being a huge step up in style.

Have we seen all the new jerseys yet??

I do hate the Abs thing though, so BMX…. They may as well ride with no jersey on………….. Would look much better..hehe

The abs are ghastly. I wouldn't be seen dead in this. It would be an insult to my lovely new bike!

No jersey? Yes, proper abs would be preferable to fake ones for sure ;-) Just, ugh.

Jens, I agree. It's the first thing I thought, "Looks like the old Saunier Duval-Scott 2008 jersey."

Why would Columbia, the main sponsor, allow Scott to have so much influence over the jersey?

Reminds me of Ricco and Piepoli’s cheating ways when I see it. And it also is far too close to the color of the TdF leader’s jersey. I suppose I need to wait until I see a better pic but I hate it. Can’t even imagine seeing George in it. Grrr….

There are some better pics of the jersey on cn now

here is one, it has the Garmin jersey on there as well so it’s not as bad. Here is an even more up close look.

They should take the designer out back and shoot him

or at least rough him up a bit. It’s only Jan 8 but I would like to nominate him for “asshat of the year”.

What moron uses that much yellow in their jersey anyway when they know they probably won’t be allowed to wear it in the Tour?

I think I know why you are so mad Jens

this means that the best Swede in the pro peloton will have to wear that ugly thing throughout the whole season, that’s very sad indeed.

This jersey is great motivation

for every single rider on Columbia to win their national championships, that way they can wear their countires colors and not that…I think Rogers will be very keen on winning both the TT and RR this week.

the front of the chest

seems similar to a armor of some comic book’s heroe…

Chris I think said it and I agreed

It reminds me a bit of the older CSC jerseys. That front abs thingy has some old school CSC jersey going on.

Congrats to Michael Rogers.....

now there’s a man that should have a TDF Maillot Jeune in his collection had it not been for a little over enthusiasm on a corner in 2007. Congrats to two of my riding buddies, the Chris’s Jongewaard and Martin. Jongas is a well known MTB champ who was unlucky not to go to the Olympics (because of an impending legal proceeding) and Chris Martin is an awesome talent, has only been riding a short while coming from a footy/rowing background….some team should enlist his services soon.

errrr....am i supposed to sign this??

This video is an attempt to show the ambience at the final hour of the Nice Ironman competition. A lame attempt i'll admit, but wth? If you're ever going to finish towards the end of an ironman, i suggest Nice as the place to do it. The applause and support and general ambience at the end is really remarkable. Dj's, pom-pom girls, people dancing, shouting, dance music blasting ... Some finishers just go on through, others raise their arms or just have a huge smile, one guy did some pushups while the dj counted for him, another did a cartwheel, some ran through with their little kids holding their hands. And this all 8 hours after the winners have finished.

When i went out my door to walk over to see the last hour or so of the Ironman, the first thing i saw was a guy across the street, pushing his triathlon bike, head hanging down to his chest, walking with a pronounced. Painful. Slow. Trudge. Medal around his neck. He'd done well. Hope he felt better the next day.

Then i got to the promenade and started seeing more of the people who'd finished: one guy asleep on the pavement with his wife by his side in all the raucous noise and confusion and crowds everywhere. Then the medical tent - massages, those heat blanket thingies, oxygen, people limping aorund, Oy!

Then every now and then you see a finisher with a medal around their neck who look fresh as a daisy, like they've just had a nice walk in the park.

Then finally you get to the finish line ... and that's the video. At the end there's a fireworks display (no one timed their finish to coincide with it this year) and then apparently a few hundred people stayed all night to party on the prom next to the beach until daybreak.

I could not do an ironman even if i wanted to, but i'll be there again next year to help welcome the last finishers in.
