In an effort to maintain his anonymity, LA will be hiding in the peloton astride his "decidedly more somber black and grey" ride than his team issue Astana'd Madone 6.9.

Hm

I guess when you don’t take a salary you can ignore your sponsors.

But Trek is one of the sponsors

and they provide a pretty serious customizing service on their web. This is good publicity for Trek and doesn’t take away from Astana (as long as he rides in regular team-kit which I assume he will).

He’s not ignoring his sponsors, he’s still riding SRAM, which he apparently has a stake in now, and Bontrager, which has pretty much been with him for years. I agree that it is great publicity for Trek and did anyone really think that he was just going to blend into the background and go unnoticed in the peloton? Nah, not a chance.

LA just said on his twitter

that he is going to ride in the Astana kit, I agree with the above comments, he isn’t snubbing Astana at all, just him racing for them has probably given Astana more worldwide attention than ever before.

Do you want to test it out in person?

Stick up a CycleGirl will be here sort of post one day for the TDU, and if he either stops for a hug and a photo, or flies past on the other side of the road surrounded by a thick wall made up of the rest of his Astana-ites then you can take that as a yes.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
