And Copenhagen is officially shut down as of now

Since The No 1 Chicagoan (no, the other one. Oprah arrived yesterday) landed about an hour ago.

Is Washington permanently shut down or do they just do this when he travels abroad?

Here's what happens if you demand that all your prime ministers have the name Rasmussen

People will confuse Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Lars Lökke Rasmussen. Or maybe Lökke Rasmussen is still out on his bike and Fogh Rasmussen is doing a stand-in?

Of course, we don't want to cause confusion

But I tell you, one day they will run out of Rasmussens and they will have to elect the Chicken (now is the time to post that pic, btw).

BTW, always spelling out all your given names,

is that a typical Scandinavian custom?

by tedvdw on Oct 2, 2009 7:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If you mean the double surnames

Then I would say yes. But the naming customs is not the same in Sweden as in Denmark and Norway. Two surnames given at birth is quite rare in Sweden, here it happens mostly when the woman keeps her maiden name and uses the husbands name as a middle name when they marry.

No I meant 1st & 2nd names, not family names

Like: Lars Ytting Bak, Gustav Erik Larsson, Chris Anker Sørensen.

by tedvdw on Oct 2, 2009 10:14 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

OK

As far as I know, Ytting is a family name. Gustav Erik Larsson is in Sweden known only as Gustav Larsson, the fact that you often see Gustav Erik is probably because of some oddity when he got his license (or something like that). Double first names is not uncommon in Scandinavia, but at least in Sweden the names are most often joined by a hyphen and they have a third name too.

Ah, yes

It’s really a Welsh name, right?

Not at all. Ted had mentioned earlier that Facebook allows you

to refer to yourself in the third person. (You had to be there).

You wouldn’t deny them their chance to watch synchronized swimming at vastly inflated prices & then spend the next fifty year paying for the pool, would you?

I’m actually kind of intrigued by synchronized swimming (and rhythmic gymnastics for that matter), they do some cool stuff.

that was stupid, but Denver is a far different city now, and I have a feeling people want redemption for 76, this is a great sports town.

Well they could just do what they did in Beijing and build walls around all the gang areas and then they would be all good

Oakland/San Fran 2020…You could start the triathlon at Alcatraz and the bike courses would be super tough plus if anybody tries to dope you can put them in Alcatraz and leave them there
