Faces of Pain...
Todays installment of Utah Cyclocross features portraits of suffering.
It was hot, dry and dusty... AGAIN!. Today was the Heber City Fairgrounds installment of The Utah Cyclocross Series.
A small women's field was dominated by Kathy Sherwin (Velo Bella/Ellsworth)
The mens A/B Flight featured a duel between Ali Goulet (Church Of The Big Ring) and Eric Rasmussen (Porcupine/Specialized). Goulet is also the current USGP Masters 35+ Series Leader.
Rasmussen prevailed at the line, giving the series it's third new winner in three weeks.

Hey where's the PodiumCafe banner.
You need a PodiumCafe banner as a back drop and then those dusty, dirty cyclo crossers would know where to find their pained faces, posted for the world to see. Of course they should shower first, I’m just saying. Nice photography as always. Thanks Mr.Marx.

you know...
we the photogs that shoot this series are simply trying to get he organizer to realize that the logos are on the wrong side of the barriers… Now if Chris and Co. want to figure out how to do promo I’m willing to help… Maybe we ought tot look into sponsoring a barrier? Actually a shirt with a logo would be useful.. Maybe I’ll figure something out before Boulder.

I am sort of kidding when I say that.
Do any of the riders know that you post pictures here or anywhere. Do they care? I guess the people who sponsor banners wouldn’t mind if they got their names out either.

you know ..
It doesn’t matter who knows that I’m shooting these races. The organizer gets an email and the Velo Bella ladies are getting stuff cause their girl is killing the women’s A’s. She knows the stuff is out there. I’m using these races as much for technical training as anything else. As much as you all appreciate these, there are technical issues like lighting that I am still working with. I appreciate the support, and as long as you all are interested, I’ll keep posting stuff for you enjoyment.
Chris.

Maybe some day Chris will ba able to take this little show primetime, and the staff photographer position will come with compensation…. I know we can dream, right?

Two things
1. If the people at the races want to see pictures of themselves racing (I’m guessing some might) then they would log on and increase traffic at the site, thus making the empire grow faster.
2. If you made your own banner then Chris would have to see you in a most favorable light when choosing the official staff photographer (kidding, it would take bribery and only bribery). ;-)
3. make that three things,
3. I know your name is Chris but I like your PdC moniker, it’s kind of backwards in that it’s the Fred that makes it related to others. Not a Marx brother but a Fred brother. Cheers!

Velo Bella knows
I do web work for VB and I can tell you, I’m always always watching for photos of the girls out racing and begging for images to post from photographers. It is silly important to have that stuff to keep the sponsors happy and show the team out having fun and racing it up. Hugely important. A blank website doesn’t win over too many sponsors – or draw in new riders.

Those three shots are from three different lenses..
All Nikkor, all first class. The face shoots are all with the 300 f/4, the mountains 80-200 f/2.8, and the wides a 16-85 f/3.5-5.6 yes I’m a gear geek. I admit it. Fortunately I don’t have to go to classes to get over my problem…..

Awesome pictures!
We are shooting to get out there not this coming weekend but the next. We want to go cheer for Reed, races for Contender. Utah really is a beautiful state…I can’t beleive how warm it was this weekend! Hope to see you out there.

Reed needs some support.
Ali, Eric and Bart are giving him a really hard time. He may do better once the races become something other than dirt crits. I will not be around Halloween weekend, cause i’m off to Colorado to cover Longmont and Boulder UCI races. This coming weekend I will be in Draper, then back the second weekend in November maybe to shoot Ogden, although I have nothing new to shoot on that course. Maybe if it snows or gets really cruddy. Gone again over Thanksgiving, maybe some So Cal cross instead.

Ohh man!
Now I’m feeling guilty we haven’t been out there yet to cheer for him. I wish we had more races on Sunday’s. Saturday’s always get busy. We will be there for him at the end of the month for sure. Bart is always kicking butt…Reed usually end up 2nd or 3rd.
Have fun in Colorado, I have a feeling there will be snow! Hopefully we will catch each other.

Yep unfortunately, Reed seems to have a lock on third on any given day.
Bart and Ali seem to feed on one another. Push push push. They are dropping the field by solid margins.

Thank you.
That’s Ali Goulet. He’s been trading wins in Utah this season, and is the current USGP Masters 35+ leader. Have yet to talk with him, but everyone says he’s one hell of a nice guy. Very very good on the bike. It’s full frame, no crop, shot on the 20 meter run up last weekend.
