Giro d'Italia 2010 Presentation ..........LIVE

Buongiorno tutti fashionistas and other assorted Grand Tour freaks. Today it's time for the second GT presentation of the year and you can bet your last lire it's going to be the most watchable. Expect lots of Coppi-tributes, appalling eyewear , scantily clad women and absolutely no images of Il Grande dell'Austin.
Steephill has a full rundown of the rumored course with links to sources for those who want study up before the presentation. They also have links to videofeeds that are scheduled to start at 16:30 CEST (10:30 US eastern)
First person to spot Pippo may or may not win a life-supply of hair-product. Enjoy!

Bring on the Italiansuits :)
"the rest was over 30. And that doesn't mean old and useless, but experienced and with the stamina"
Jens! Voigt, Crit Intl Interview, 2009
OK, so that would be
01:30 for those Aussies on EDT.
CycleGirl – it’s 00:30 for you ;-)
Rbjhan hasn't corrected you, so I'm probably wrong
but I thought we started at 12.30am =(
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
We're on daylight savings, remember?
So it’s +9hrs.
(Except for CycleGirl, ’cause the Queenslanders just have to be different, LOL)
I'm thinking my Mac doesn't show this
although it’s cheap to blame technology ;)
I’m looking to see a relaxed Menchov… just trying for a little cycling chat, so long as The team beginning with ‘A’ aren’t mentioned for at least three hours….
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Haaahaha!
Is this that wonderful new-fangled timezone conversion gizmo that you recently discovered? (after folks tried to sell you on that ‘Fox Clocks’ doovah)
It's ME! i know it. The doovah's good
I’m hopeless… sigh. I once landed at a plaka in Greece at 4.30 in the morning when the clocks had just changed. The drunks I’d met hours earlier were on their last hurrahs and I had to wait with them :(
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Maybe... very obscure reference for me :(
Or should I be asking what my Mac has to do with Mark Cavendish? Time differences I presume…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I'm thinking a lot but nothing's happening
I like to think I can think laterally, but maybe ’I’m just having myself on’?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
That makes two of us :)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Oh yes, Frinkster
You can think laterally ;-).
And when I become Dictator, there will be a job available to you, as one of my advisors ;-)
I knew you'd know what he meant :(
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
It's scary, isn't it? LOL
(OT… but… I miss our old playmate :-(… sigh… )
I think I'm reading you right... and I do too...
Time…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Except for the dead snow leopards...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Thanx Lou....Was wondering how late I had to stay up...
"the rest was over 30. And that doesn't mean old and useless, but experienced and with the stamina"
Jens! Voigt, Crit Intl Interview, 2009
Good call ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I'm torn
I want to see guys in stylin’ clothe, pretty women and lots of angst and drama – don’t know whether to watch the Giro presentation or the streaming feed of Cup of Russia figure skating event.
I'd record the skating for later...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Yolanthe Cabou van Katsbergen.
2 times Dutch hottie of the year is the face of the Giro 2010..
For prove:

She's beautiful
Model/ cyclist/actress? Italians have good taste, although call me crazy but I thought maybe Giro cyclists should be the face of the Giro…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Most Italian women look like that
even students in a 9am lecture.
Hey, Frinking says, 'Dutch Hottie'
I’ve been in trouble for not reading him carefully before..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I read every word now, I promise
and I still misinterpret. Monty’s teasing… you got it, I missed it. Must be the lunchtime barbie ;(
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
When people have names like
Gerttije-Lijsa Linnkjesveerdraacht Van den Houhenzvolldere-Machtebelkraam
it’s a good indication they are dutch and not italian
Not with that level
of abuse of the letter ‘J’….
But I want to know her mother's maiden name ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Serious question. What does the 'face' of the Giro do?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I was thinking podium chicklet
Mind you, Cance was the face of The Tour on SBS and I wasn’t complaining…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
snort
"well...you live in england so: you love the rain. loves the queen. hates cycling. based on mr bean had a tremendous amount of humour. all ride in a mini cooper. all getting drunk before the age of 12. getting drunk at least 3 times a day."- frinking, 7/9/09
I know I'm not meant to edit you but it's Dutch 'pride'
or the pride of the Dutch..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Ha Ha, it would have to be
because “ke katso” isn’t that complimentary in Italian.
I think she's only 'Face of the Giro' in Rotterdam
Not in Italy. Although you never know with those football nuts; she is currently the girlfriend of Wesley Sneijder of Inter Milano.
That makes more sense..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
One of my ex-students dropped by for a drink today
He’s going to Rotterdam for TDF… cycling isn’t even really one of his ‘big’ sports. Very envious.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Even Tuttobici calls her the face of the Giro
here (beware – the English is not a bad translation of the Italian, it’s just bad English).
Ok. Further benign question: Who won't wear a tie?
I’m thinking it will be a non-Italian…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
What's OHN?
This sounds like a job for Majope ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I'm relieved, because 'tic-tac' means nothing
unless it’s about clocks ticking…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Hey?
What about these?
(I think that this will open in a new window for you! I may never remember again, so let’s savour the moment, LOL…)
Well done, but OHM and Tic-Tacs?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Ha! It was a clock...
Did you know we say,‘tick-tock’? Another useless fact…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Thank God..
My mental gymnastics weren’t at all helpful…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
What would the Giro be without pink 'bling'?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
It tops the TdF set
by a million. I loved their dancing girls with balloon acrobatics one year. Way more fun that Prudhomme.
This year's presentation
is timetabled to last from 16:45 to 18:10. That leaves plenty of time for bling and dancers.
I wonder if Menchov will be there. I'm a fan
but Denny and bling just don’t sit easily together in my head :)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
He'll probably make a liar out of me now...
I’m hoping there’ll be no white suits …
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Gosh, my Cyrillic's a bit rusty..
I’ll just have to wait.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Just switch to English

Intereting part he is going for the Giro and Tour this year
What a %#$
If Katushya or Astana would make an interesting offer he would serious look to the conditions.. Astana only got better because Vino is there riding now..
Sometimes it's better not to know ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Thanks for that....
I think it’s too late to read this bizarre translation. Aaargh!
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Show off!

The RAI chairman said nothing that I remember.

Netherlands
1 Amsertdam TT 8,2km
2 Amsterdam – Utrecht (Molehills)
3 Amsterdam – Middelberg (Dikes!)
why of course he is!
He could look good in Andy’s outfit from the TdF presentation, not that he’d be seen dead in it.
stage 5 is a sprinters stage
but with a climb 50m from the end in honour of teh 50th anniversary of Coppi’s death (eh)
Sorry, Stefano, but that sweater vest doesn't do it for me.
If it’s an attempt to draw the eye away from your bald head, it’s not working.
now, if the vest was blue to match his eyes....

that's what they all say ;-)
(there is a reason for it, i.e. the nature of the job means they are far more exposed to different types of pollen than most people. & I have to say, any time I see shots of them riding through rape fields (Romandie this year springs to mind) I shudder)
depends upon exactly what conta's allergic to

down in history even more
