Vaughters = The Peter Principle??
Has Jonathan Vaughters, the grass-roots, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, all-American junior bike racer's proponent met his level of incompetence? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurence_J._Peter
Is he masterminding some brilliant strategy of selling Wiggins to Sky for huge money in return for one year of Wiggo's services, opening the door to sign Contador, the world's best grand tour rider? Daily website reporting has Garmin and Contador mentioned regularly in the same sentence.
To contract with Contador, the seeming antithesis of a team player, would seem to be the ultimate admission of failure of his basic ideals and foundation of all things Slipstream. Not to mention Contador not quite being squeaky clean on the anti doping front.
It is difficult to imagine Contador entering the team without negative impact. Who would ride for him? A below par Vande Velde riding his heart out to help his teammate having a bad day? All Tyler's lead out guys chasing down the daily breaks? Would the Garmin bus or dinner table be any happier than that of Astana this year?
Has the pursuit of fine wines and desire to rub shoulders with cycling's bureaucracy fundamentally changed his outlook on what bike racing is all about?
What price success, Vaughters? Why so coy?
Or does he have something else up his sleeve?

Well now
this really is turning into Brett Favre on bikes. Until Contador is free, Garmin are presumably pretending he doesn’t exist. Until you have something, you’ve got nothing. And if he does come free, then Vaughters will gladly take him on and sort out the terrible problem of having three of the world’s best stage racers on one team.

So the Vikes can only beat a high school team by 7 points at home?
and what would that make the Lions and Rams, or Bucs? Junior high? Elementary? I’d say that’s about right.

Garmin and Contador are a strange combo. Don't think Garmin has the support to support, :S, Contador..
That said. This is only speculation. If he leaves it’s to QST or GCE. But the question who stays valid is indeed:
Against which price does Garmin want to maintain their clean image?
What do you fear most?
1. coup d’etat
2. putsch
Yeah, what idiot would want to sign the defending Tour champion
that’s like the Yankees wanting to sign Albert Pujols, why the hell would they do that?! He is only the best player in the game…pssht! But Garmin hates riders who have never tested positive, they only sign controversial riders that have tested positive(Millar). And of course AC is friends with a lot of the Garmin guys but they would surely hate each other if they rode for one another. And I’m sure the Garmin riders would absolutely hate riding hard for the big Tour favorite, in attempt to earn their team a Tour win, what a horrible scenario for the Garmin team players.

I was afraid to say anything,
But this fanpost is a joke isn’t it. Well, isn’t it? I hope so.

I suspect
anything quoting the Peter Principle should be taken with a little humor. The founders would be quite disappointed otherwise.

"Daily website reporting has Garmin and Contador mentioned regularly in the same sentence."
Reporting it doesn’t mean it’s real. The worst I can accuse Vaughters on this one is of teasing the press corps with his silences and non-denials and keeping his team’s name in the public’s face. It’s no wionder the sponsor’s re-upped with him/

I'm pretty sure JV did deny courting AC back in September.
IMO: JV wants nothing to do with Contador. Too much money, not squeaky clean, no room at the table.
He definitely stated that he was not courting AC because he was under contract with Astana.
He never denied wanting him for any reason, I’m sure that was some one else’s opinion because they were prepared to move for Contador before the Tour if Astana fell apart.
