Geraint Thomas sets fastest Pursuit time...
Geraint Thomas, who didn't do too much on the road this year because of injury, blasted Manchester today for a 4'15'015. That is the fastest time since Boardman and the fastest time since the superman-ban. Be a shame if they cut it out of the olympics now.

Yup, I'm stuck in the house ill watching it.
He’s just beaten Dominique Cornu pretty convincingly in the final, though since he caught Cornu he didn’t record a time. Pleased for G, he’s a good lad & I’ll be curious to see what Sky have him do on the road next year.

ha
He’s just been interviewed & said that he “forgot” that he didn’t have to sit up once he caught Cornu… he didn’t know whether or not he’d have done a better time though.

He was a second up on his qualifying time
Really should have finished that off

Yep except that
he did have go up the banking to get round Cornu, which meant at that point he didn’t have the best line, so I’m not sure in the end whether he would’ve bettered his time or not. He said that he forgot he could keep going because in team pursuit you always sit up when you catch the other team, but maybe he just wanted to win, I don’t know.

Nice...
I might be able to get a feed for the weekend since it is on BBC.
Hopefully Thomas can fufill some of his promise on the road. I’ll be rooting for him.

He looked in storming form at the Tour of Britain...such a shame he was robbed of most of his season!
"If I were World Road Race Champion, I would wear black shorts. That probably has more to do with me being on the wiser side of 30 and understanding better that the decisions I make now never really go away. White shorts would not be something I'd be proud of...." - David Millar, in Rouleur.

Maybe Sky don't need Wiggins?
On the train to watch the rest of the World Cup as I type – hopefully some more action to match this

Video from the BBC site
Thomas’s pursuit win is the first video, scroll down for the end of the points race, the keirin final, and the women’s sprint final (no vid regretably for the scratch and the kilo – presumably as brits didn’t win them)

Also BBC have a (rare) video interview with Steve Peters (GB cycling psych man) that’s well worth a look. Interesting to see if he can work his magic on Flecha, T Lovkvist and others.

Team GB's calculations say Geraint Thomas
would have riiden 4.13.1 – ridiculous!
See Brailsford here

(not on a plane apparently as live in Manchester!!!! – but other posts mean you know that now)

That *is* ridiculous.
Nice to see Lizzie A do so well: she said that Shane Sutton was signalling at her not to go for the last sprint in the points race but she did anyway, & then that team pursuit with Jo Rowsell & Wendy H was rather special.

she completed owned that last sprint
a remarkable preformance from her – hope she can translate it to the road next year – if so bodes really well for the Cervelo girls and maybe someone will take the GB champions jersey off Nicole Cooke…
