Bruyneel deserters
What has happened to some of the leaders or lieutenants who turned their backs on Johan when they had gained prominence by means of him?
Hamilton - down and out,
Heras - no where to be found,
Landis - on a continental team and no longer the same,
Pena - once the "significant other" now where is he - at Rock with three top tens in five years,
Savodelli - no major results since the TT win at the '07 Giro
Others have gone on to greater success, e.g. Boonen, DaveZ, Dean, Devolder, Hesjedal, Hincapie,... they all did so with Johan's blessing but, what about Alberto, do you think he'll make it without Johan?

Is this post serious?
There seem to be a fair bit of cherry picking and omissions going on. Anyway, Hamilton, Heras and Landis doped. I wouldn’t bet any money on that they were clean during the US Postal years. More to the point, Heras won one Vuelta riding for Kelme, one at US Postal and one at Liberty-Seguros. Doped or not, he managed well without Bruyneel. Same thing with Savoldelli who won the Giro before he joined Discovery, and then stopped racing one year after he left.
And Boonen’s departure was not with Johan’s blessing, as I remember it.

Im not gonna bet any money on Contador being clean either
maybe now he is, but when he was at Liberty Seguros he was as doped as anyone, and i do believe if they looked into Puerto for real they would find evidence against him. Now onto the idea of him doing well without Johan, im sure he will be fine without Bruyneel, no real reason for concern there, Contador has talent above Landis, Heras, Salvodelli, Hamilton, i dont think anyones gonna disagree with that. Hes still the favorite for next years tour.

No Boonen's departure
was NOT with Johan’s blessing. Far from it!

Do I think Contador can win without Bruyneel? Yes
So Bert hasn’t gone anywhere. Who left whom?

For real?
Wellllll…
The Accountant is the best GT rider that we’ve seen in a long time. And he is young – he is nowhere near his peak yet. He has his head firmly planted on his shoulders, as best I can tell. He is not phased by pressure.
He appears to be liked and respected by pretty much all of his colleagues/rivals (with the exception of a very small minority). He conducts himself with grace and dignity – refusing to be drawn by people who try to provoke him, spoiling for a fight.
I think he’ll be just fine.

Heras can be found...
racing the Ruta de los Conquistadores in Costa Rica.
He raced it last year and will try again this year.
That plus the Brompton World Championships.

Better than coming 2nd as he did the year before!

Ordinary stuff
Riders come and go. You could do this post about Patrick Lefevre too. Bruyneel has developed his share of grand tour riders and teams, I think that’s his specific legacy. But otherwise I think this movement is what happens all over cycling.

AC can obviously win without Bruyneel's guidance
seeing as how, for better or worse, he didn’t really listen to JB during the 2009 Tour.

They all have had a good amount of success
and turned out to be frauds(except Salvo). They are dopers, and were more than likely dopers riding for JB and LA.

Calling riders who left for the advancement of their own careers deserters is pretty harsh.
They may have been treated as such by JB and LA but they shouldn’t be considered as such.

I think AC will fade away, and by the end of next year will be forgotten.

and Floyd Landis won the Tour de France after leaving Bruyneel.
Yeah, he was DQed for doping but the difference between him and the other riders is that he got caught, the others didn’t.

Uhhhh...
He did win the tour this year without JB. I’m not sure how much of a DS he needs with his climbing/tt skills.
