So, as Chris recommends, I keep hitting "refresh"
but I can’t hit it all the time so I have to make myself take breaks between each hit, sort of like refresh…pause…refresh…pause…refresh, and then I think hey! The pause that refreshes, that’s Coke! so I go get some Coke and then think, oooh, rum and Coke, and the rum makes me think of pirates because yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, especially the Sid Meier game Pirates, which is really, really cool and you get to cruise the Spanish Main and all the islands of the Caribbean, and islands made me think of desert islands, and that made me think of Robinson Crusoe, and Crusoe made me think of his sidekick Friday, and then it occurred to me that it IS Friday, and must therefore be almost time for the Wednesday Session.
So I start hitting “refresh.”

It appears that Russian ProCycling exists as Provelo which of course makes me think of Provolone which leads to wine debating…

Today was our office potluck. Very little work is getting done.
Half the women in the office went to see New Moon at midnight last night and are half asleep at their desks. 4 hours sleep + turkey = naptime
I had a giant piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream. It was heavenly.

Alright - I'm over Summer. Autumn now, please.
40 yesterday. It’s 30 here in my flat now, at 10am, with high 30’s expected. 40 forecast for tomorrow. When I wake up to 30 degrees, I don’t tend to be terribly productive :-(. I’m a bit of a half-molten splodge, slumped over the desk. Excellent weather for washing and drying blankets and such… wish the maid would get on with it, LOL.
Poor Lou. Altogether now… “Poor Lou”
PS- 40 degrees is about 105 in that weird Farenheit voodoo shit, I think

I have no issue with the *timing* of the seasons
I quite like the way that the seasons are organised, up here in the Southern Hemisphere ;-). I especially like that the Tour is on in the middle of Winter. Curled up on the couch in the middle of the night, in front of the heater and wrapped up in a blanket… much nicer for Tour-watching than dripping sweat in front of the fan, continually having to get up for more water…

If you haven’t been riding in 8 degrees and rain for the last several days. Australia must be great…

8 degrees is hibernation weather
And if you’re talking Farenheit… well, that just does not compute, I’m afraid. I’ve never experienced a temperature lower than 25 Farenheit (and rarely experienced a temperature as low as that…)

Upstate New York
In the majority of winter seasons, a temperature of -25° or lower can be expected in the northern highlands… The Adirondack region records from 35 to 45 days with below zero temperatures in normal to severe winters
Then there’s the wind chill factor…but words can’t express. Just go ski Whiteface some January.

Poor Lou?! Bah, and again I say bah!
We have yet another wet and windy weekend coming up, which will mean turbo trainer in the morning followed by drenching in the afternoon when I have to go out. My hair will go wild and my lovely new cat umbrella will probably be destroyed in the gale. The only silver lining in all this is that the 2009 Paris Roubaix DVD arrived this morning. There’s nothing like Tommeke’s back view disappearing over the cobbles to make me ‘chase’ harder on the trainer!
"If I were World Road Race Champion, I would wear black shorts. That probably has more to do with me being on the wiser side of 30 and understanding better that the decisions I make now never really go away. White shorts would not be something I'd be proud of...." - David Millar, in Rouleur.

Did I say that my weekend isn’t also wet and windy?
Had a storm yesterday. Showers due this arvo. Showers and ‘windy’ tomorrow (yup, and 40 degrees). Rain all the way through to mid-week, in fact. Hands up who likes humidity…

I suspect that I may spend tomorrow glued to the BOM website, watching for the southerly to start moving up the coast, LOL. On the positive side, I’ve just been rummaging through obscure cupboards – and found another fan! It works, even! We don't all live close to a beach ;-)
The northern beaches are too much effort to get to. Bondi is closest, really – but I’m not going to go there. Hmm.. Brighton might be closer, but I ain’t swimming inside Botany Bay. That leaves Cronulla – and I love the place, but you won’t ever convince me that the roughly one hour trip is worth it on a stinking hot day…
(Then there’s the sun thing. I don’t do sun in Summer. Not on bare skin, anyway, as far as I can help it. My ‘tan’ is limited to my left arm ;-). Soooo… the beach on a stinking hot day… not really the place for me.)
by Lou... on Nov 21, 2009 1:50 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Well then I have no answer... :(
I spent years teaching in little western towns where the mercury hit 37 + on a regular basis. Air conditioning and beer had to suffice. Home/s always have water in my world. No beach in summer – sensible but sacreligious…

For all of you moaners about rain and snow-
in Northern California we are in a serious drought and have only had one day of rain since last Spring. Nov 20th and only sprinkles so far.
We need the rain, only not all at once. There are many old levees around.

I'm all with you on hoping Cali gets out of the drought
means less water has to be supplied from here as well. But from what I remember from living in NoCal is there was almost always a drought. But hey, we will all die in 2012 anyway!(that is sarcastic, I hate that theory)

Thanks Ted, I'm considering you my cross link
I’ve had no trouble getting Superpresitge coverage for free from Sporza (I was crushed when Nys flatted last week), but have struck out getting anything for World Cups. Not surprised, just disappointed.
I’m hoping NBC Universal comes through for Worlds like they did last year. Excellent video quality and lots of it.
I mean uh... hasn't that ever occurred to you, man? Sir?
by Drew... on Nov 21, 2009 8:49 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Well that’s the thing: Superprestige hasn’t been on Sporza for a few years now. “Sporza” is the market name for one of the VRT (Flemish public broadcaster) channels and has a much larger audience than commercial station VT4 which now owns the rights to the Superprestige Series. For instance, and relevant to me, Sporza is on all cable selections in the Netherlands, VT4 nowhere :( So I, too, have to rely on the VT4 webcast. Which in itself is pretty great!

Thanks a ton
Not speaking belgian is a hinderance when trying to find live coverage of cross races.
Luckily “sport” and “livestream” with are pretty easy to decipher, especially when the ubiquitous Nys is in the picture.
