I keep looking at a couple of the riders and thinking--

“Damn—I bet he can’t even win this.”

I nominated him.

But in the end I voted for someone else.

by majope on Nov 3, 2009 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

Despite all the venom I spat at Tuft

I voted for Nuyens.

He’s sorta my anti-Gilbert.

Funny, though, how the two super rich-kids wound up on this list . . .

And Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeenoooooooooosssssss ssssssssssssssurges ahead!

This poll has been nip and tuck but it looks like Leeenos is grabbing this poll by the throat and proving to the world how disappointing he is!

What a guy!

by ursula on Nov 3, 2009 10:21 PM EST reply actions

I voted for Leenoooos

you can’t have such an awesome name in Italian and then suck so much, unacceptable!

Look, it's a bird...no, it's a plane....oh never mind it's just fucking balloon boy

+1 for Leeenooooos

Leenoooooosss has always been a disappointment in my eyes.

Riis talked him up as the new Ullrich about 3 years ago and I had hope for him . But after the last couple of years he just hasn’t done anything. Except, finish a TT in T-A with a broken femur, that’s pure bad ass.

by brunopitton on Nov 4, 2009 12:48 PM EST up reply actions

He probably would have won T-A but for that broken femur

HTF is LL on this list?

Most disappointing? Not even close. I voted for Lenoos, that guy is worthless these days.

If I just had one more gear, I...

by SpunOut on Nov 3, 2009 11:39 PM EST reply actions

Seriously, Levi had one bad day at the Giro

and he crashed at the Tour. The guy is solid as a rock, his name should not be on this list. Boo! (and not the Halloween kind of boo)

No horn, watch for finger.

by sminer on Nov 4, 2009 12:08 AM EST up reply actions

So what you are saying is...

You want me to take Gerdemann of this list.

by ursula on Nov 4, 2009 12:12 AM EST up reply actions

The poor short and bald guys

no love or respect

And the TOC, hopefully 100 years from now it will be the race of the year and LL will be a legend.

Phil, hello down there, why do you hate LL and the ToC?

No horn, watch for finger.

by sminer on Nov 4, 2009 12:43 AM EST up reply actions

Why do you hate my hate sminer?

Look, it's a bird...no, it's a plane....oh never mind it's just fucking balloon boy

by Phil H. on Nov 4, 2009 1:11 AM EST up reply actions

Oh shut up Phil, I know you you don't hate either one.

But I don’t like ursula’s stats, there so… statistical… they’re almost accurate.

No horn, watch for finger.

by sminer on Nov 4, 2009 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

I voted for the short bald guy

It’s like Australians talking up Cadel. Every year I wait for the spectacular and ….

by Seahorse on Nov 4, 2009 7:18 AM EST up reply actions

Yea, he was so unspectacular at last year?

He looked just as good this year, just had really, two days of bad luck.

No horn, watch for finger.

by sminer on Nov 4, 2009 4:26 PM EST up reply actions

Plus, HE WON THE TOUR OF CALIFORNIA! OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!

by Phil H. on Nov 4, 2009 12:35 AM EST up reply actions

Hmm, perhaps his taste in teammates...

Is what makes Levi disappointing to so many. Though, to be fair, no one said this had to be strictly about race results.

by tgartner on Nov 4, 2009 2:46 AM EST up reply actions

That makes no sense

Obviously this about race results.

If I just had one more gear, I...

by SpunOut on Nov 4, 2009 2:46 AM EST up reply actions

Based on VDS points, Leeenos is just not in Levi's league.

Levi went from 1520 points in 2008 to 603 this year.

That’s a mighty big drop.

Of the expensive riders only Ballan and Kirchen dropped more. Leeenos had no where near that drop, going from 392 to 120. So why you and sminer are bellyaching about Levi being on this list is beyond me.

by ursula on Nov 4, 2009 12:18 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, but Leenoos looked great in 2008

at least the bits he raced. Was contesting for the win at T-A when he broke his femur, then when he came back he seemed to be on fire, winning the Tour de l’Ain, Coppa Agostoni and the D-Tour in less than a month. I don’t think it was unreasonable to expect more from him this year than a single win.

Levi might have skimped on VDS points, but he had a much more successful year than Gerdemann.

by majope on Nov 4, 2009 12:44 PM EST up reply actions

Well i don't expect much really, but man his tyres get pumped up here

I keep waiting for the Second coming..

He does, a bit, doesn't he?

That ‘best time-trialist’ thread was rather memorable…

by Lou... on Nov 5, 2009 8:45 PM EST up reply actions

I'm waiting... but i think his time has been and gone except for maybe ToC

It’s like Davis winning TDU…

by Seahorse on Nov 6, 2009 4:13 AM EST up reply actions

Ballan

Why? Because he’s supposed to be a team leader, not like some of the names on the list. Plus, with the WC jersey on his shoulder, he should have won something. Did he even try, or just rest on his WC laurels?

by MaestroDon on Nov 4, 2009 12:55 AM EST reply actions

Not his fault for the first half of the season

Second half… well, come on Alessandro. We know you can ride the hell out of a breakaway if you want to.

by Douglas Ansel on Nov 4, 2009 12:57 AM EST up reply actions

Precisely

but he didn’t seem to want to.

by MaestroDon on Nov 4, 2009 1:01 AM EST up reply actions

curse of the rainbow jersey strikes again... i give him a pass for the year

Igor Antonius of course.

Far more talented yjan Linuuuusss and Gert.. Becuase c’mon.. Everybody knew he couldn’t handle the pressure no?

What do you fear most?
1. coup d’etat
2. putsch

by Frinking on Nov 4, 2009 3:36 AM EST reply actions

Had to come back from a nasty crash...but yes, once he was properly fit he won one minor race.

Come on Igor, don’t make me cry. But he’s still my second favourite Basque ;)

Linus

Badly hurt and coming back to form, not a fair selection taking into consideration his circumstances.

by LachesisV on Nov 4, 2009 12:47 PM EST reply actions

Since when has fairness had anything to do with pro Sports

especially from the fan-side. Thursday’s lazy malingering bastard becomes the guy we all knew could do it after he smokes the rest of the field on Saturday.

So your biggest disappointment

is that the second half of Colom’s season wasn’t as good as the first?

by Monty. on Nov 4, 2009 6:40 PM EST up reply actions

Bah Colom

by Albertina on Nov 5, 2009 9:02 AM EST up reply actions

But.. There's always a reason why someone fails..

Mos of the time it’s injury or ilness. o why can’t you include him and can you somebody who is overtrained out in the list?

What do you fear most?
1. coup d’etat
2. putsch

by Frinking on Nov 5, 2009 5:59 AM EST up reply actions

Tuft is the only one on that list

for whom I had any expectations so I voted for him. So there…

by Jimbo... on Nov 4, 2009 11:33 PM EST reply actions

Why is HWCBN not on this list?

He only got 3rd in the TdF. Surely we were all expecting first?

That “ping” you heard was the pin being taken out of a grenade…

by addict on Nov 5, 2009 9:37 AM EST reply actions

The fact he wasn't first was a cause for some celebration I thought...
