Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Apologies if this has been posted before I did not find it in a site search. I would own one of these bikes just to look at it, let alone ride.

Looks great but . . . .

. . . . in reality it is in fact not functional as the friction from the bearings in the wheels would be enormous.

There is more, but I just wanted to point that one out.

Superconducting magnets

You just need to add a tank of liquid oxygen, and have an income equal to the GDP of Luxembourg. Simple…

You Tube has quite a few videos of these hubless wheels

mostly on motorbikes. Well mostly on choppers, which gives a massive hint as to how lousy the performance actually is.

Yes the genius that is Chris Boardman...

and the I have no idea how that thing is theft proof because when people know that is made of carbon fiber it will be gone.

theft proof

is a bit of a misnomer, in my opinion.

The concept is that the wheels would be locked and unable to rotate unless unlocked by the owner’s fingerprints. Theoretically rendering the bike useless if stolen. However, fingerprint readers are very easy to spoof.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
