"Friends? Benjamin Noval, Dani Navarro en Jésus Hernandez. I trust them for the whole 200%. I also have a good relationship with Alesandro Vinokourov. We know each other for a long time, we know each other families, we know what happens in each others houses. We have a very good understanding. A lot better than the most think."

I translated it. Couldn't find the quote in English.

But it is Contador about his new budy Vino.. Who saw that coming?

Good PR. How could you not see it coming? But I like it ;)

Yuu totally missed the media reporting about the

No-Vino-in-my-Tour-team-clausule?

And I seriously think 2 PR managers have to stick together.. The PR manager is way too soft for the Old Boss

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 5:42 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, I recall that

The Flemish media at their finest ;-). I also recall a while back the Accountant saying that the Vino clause was a load of crap – and that they have a ‘good relationship’ ;-). There have been noises made about them being mates for a long time now… I have vague recollections from earlier in the year, also.

Oh and Frinkster? – you might be the founder of the Cult, but you are dangerously close to heresy here! Your toy snow-leopard may be in danger…

Test my power? Tell ya what - I'll prove my point instead ;-)

(besides, you really shouldn’t get into an arse-kicking contest with a porcupine. And anyway, we must stand united in the face of Vino’s enemies!)

Monaco, back in March. They look friendly to me :-)

by Lou... on Dec 12, 2009 7:42 AM EST up reply actions

Those pictures are way to cool..

Vino is even touching Conta’s breasts… That’s the ultimate sign of friendship! Sort of.. (:

But why is this the first time I see the pictures? Are you hiding more things for me?

p.s Who’s the Astana behind? He looks like Boonen but that’s no Astana

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 7:51 AM EST up reply actions

ROFLMAO

Well the Accountant is wearing a great big smile, so I guess it is a friendly gesture. (Personally, I’d deck anyone who greeted me that way, but there you go…)

Not sure about the third guy… Paulinho?

Do you see what's on Vino's knicks? 'Vino forever'.... priceless!

Swap "Lance" for "Vino"

and I think we read this story a year ago.

Except now you subtract Lance's gigantic ego and his great past Tour results

Maybe VIno has an extremely large ego as well, but he isn’t a 7 time defending Tour champ and Bert is the more accomplished cyclist between the two.

+1

Vino also has a stake in a victory for Contador. Astana was originally made for Vino and I think he will be happy for himself if Contador wins and he has any part at all in that victory.

by Mark Frank on Dec 12, 2009 4:21 PM EST up reply actions

Yep, I mentioned the same thing on Chris's thread

I believe Vino wants his team to win a Tour with him there, and although he would prefer himself being that person, he would still be proud of him supporting another guy to the win for Astana.

No I didn't, but I'm cynical

and perhaps this is an attempt to soften up Prudhomme and Co?

Most interesting here for me is the early naming of their Tour team

Contador
De La Fuente
Grivko
Hernandez
Navarro
Noval
Stangelj
Tiralongo
Vino

Per CN

That’s a pretty solid team. All are Grand Tour veterans.

(Also Vino and Gasparotto to the Giro.)

by ursula on Dec 12, 2009 7:20 AM EST reply actions

Pff. Vino basher!

But I think it’s strong.. Maybe even stronger than Astana.

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 7:27 AM EST up reply actions

FRINKING!

I am shocked!

Focus, man! Yes, OK, Astana did become Postal for a while… but Astana is now Astana again (praise the lord). So try to remember – Radioshack = Postal, and Astana = For The Benefit Of The Glorious Nation (And Alberto), yeah? Sheesh.

by Lou... on Dec 12, 2009 7:36 AM EST up reply actions

But.. But.. But....

There are similar and stuff..
And I have to correct you..

Astana = For The Benefit Of The Glorious Nation

Is what it is all about.. Don’t let deeper senses get in your brain

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 7:47 AM EST up reply actions

While Astana is still riding for the Glorious nation

they feel more like Postal next year than Shack does. They don’t have a team that will win many stages and have only one real threat to win the race. They have some real strong domestiques but no other leaders(not next year Vino fans…not next year) and will put all their efforts behind one rider. While I’m sure Lance will have everyone riding for him by July the Shack feels more like Astana this year with multiple top 10 threats and maybe it will be Levi or Kloden who will be team leader by stage 19.

with the Vino-Klodi-Jan three-headed monster

Maybe Lance’s team has become their old antagonists

While I doubt a JB led team will be that unorganized

it is quite a funny thought.

Not to be shabby

but it is Pereiro. Gavia spelled it wrong in the Pereiro Retire thing. In the title.. Strangely enough everybody missed it..

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 10:30 AM EST up reply actions

Thanks.

I always struggle with spelling his name. E before I. Got it.

by MambaFan on Dec 12, 2009 10:38 AM EST up reply actions

In Dutch there is a huuuge different between ie and ei

So it seems strange to me but I doubt the difference is there in English/American/Canadian/Aussietalk

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 10:53 AM EST up reply actions

Well,

spelling corrections are all fun and games until Gav drops by, then it suddenly starts to feel like work.

But seriously, English speakers seem to make the ei/ie mistake very very often. Both ways!

by tedvdw on Dec 12, 2009 10:44 AM EST up reply actions

google translate told me

ie and ei are pronounced the same. Click here for the try. Just type ie and ei and the vocal thing..

And I thought you would make the correction some time.. But you failed your quest ;)

by Frinking on Dec 12, 2009 10:55 AM EST up reply actions

We actually pronounce them in lots of different ways

but the rule I suppose you know: ‘i’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’.

ah, the old ditty...

I before E, except after C, unless it sounds like “a” as in “neighbor” and “weigh”
