Quintisential Millar

He’s like three sailors in one. Always makes for good interviews :-)

"The road is our agony, but also our daily bread; and at night, when it is deserted and the moon glistens on the asphalt, the ridiculous dreams of racers like us pass up and down it."

That depends on whether he’s David Millar, champion British cyclist, or David Millar, the Maltese-born doping fiend.

pounding along in three ratios like a sonata
like a Ritter with pommelled scrotum atra cura on the step
Botticelli from the fork down pestling the transmission
tires bleeding voiding zeep the highway

Malta, Hong Kong, Home Counties...

At least he’s got pissed in Scotland a time or two. Which makes him as Scottish as I am.

It *is* pretty much the same interview

Millar’s been giving the last four or five years or so… but certainly one of the best versions of it. Interesting to hear what he makes of Kimmage, too.

yeah i find their relationship interesting

do you remember that mushy article kimmage wrote about millar in the 08 tour? or maybe it was this year. i guess they’ve made some kind of peace.

"well...you live in england so: you love the rain. loves the queen. hates cycling. based on mr bean had a tremendous amount of humour. all ride in a mini cooper. all getting drunk before the age of 12. getting drunk at least 3 times a day."- frinking, 7/9/09

For the one who can see from the face (Piepo, Cobo stage TdF 2008) who uses EPO

Millar All you do is, all that happens is, let’s say you’re riding up the climb and breathing really hard. – Iit really hurts. Once you do EPO, same sensation: I – it really hurts, but you can keep going. You keep going. A five k climb, where you’re like “It really hurts!” I, it still really hurts when you’re on EPO, but you get ten ks. And then you can recover immediately, boom, do it again the next climb. It sustains your maximal effort.

Also the TdF through Barca is quite hilarious. Thanx

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
