Around SBN: Lance Berkman Could Have Torn ACL

Day four is on now.

If I was your friend I'd post the link to the racing but Majope cleverly posted the link on the front page yesterday, use it!  Derny drivers, american blues and who knows what more surprises they will have in store for us.  Stand up  Stand up.  Stand up. Seventy five times, Stand up.  Must not be giving me credit for two letter words because they want me to write a whole lot more before I can post.  Is there anyone else who wants to stand up for Six Day races?

STANDING UP!

Can’t wait for the action to start. Now all I need is a few cold beers to make it a worthy experience. It’s Friday, so it’s okay to start drinking at 2:30pm, right?

Found out some info on Holloway's partner...

Colby is usually with Daniel but he fell and broke his collarbone at the Munich ‘six’. Daniel’s partner here is Sebastien Siedler, one of those involved in the crash in Munich.

Thought that was kind of interesting.

It tends to happen that way...

… you wander in to the six-day just to have a quick look and satisfy your curiosity, and before you know it hours have passed and you’re exhausted from standing up for the champions (and probably have a Boney M song stuck in your head)…

by Lou... on Dec 18, 2009 6:40 PM EST up reply actions

how does

the derny driver know when to speed up or slow down?

by John.. on Dec 18, 2009 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

Experience mostly.

The riders will yell at the driver if they are not tuned in.

Cadence

The other night Daniel's drive ran out of gas and they were in the lead.

Daniel tried to go for it but there were too many laps left and he got sucked up by the field.

From Daniel to our T-Shirt question...,

It is a fan club t-shirt for Franco Marvuli. We mess around at the 6’s together. I give him a hard time for being a pretty boy.

Laps

How do you know how many laps are left?

by John.. on Dec 18, 2009 6:50 PM EST reply actions

There are lap cards (usually) at the finish line the riders can watch as they pass by.

On a point lap or one lap to go for a race, you will always here a bell or distinct sound of some sort alerting everyone it is a points lap or finish.

by nikki on Dec 18, 2009 6:52 PM EST up reply actions

Most derney's had the bar so a rider couldn't hit the wheel (I believe)

The keirin is one bike, all riders, this is a driver per rider.

At set lap numbers, the last rider to cross the line is eliminated.

Until there are I think they do 3 riders here where they have a nuetral lap and then sprint for the win.

Here's a good section to take note of...

All Tracks Are Not Created Equal
Front forks are reversed and a 600 front wheel fitted to get the rider in close behind the pacer, the distance the roller is set behind the pace bike is set according to the track; on a slower track the roller will be set further back so as the slip-streaming affect is not as pronounced; on a big, fast track the roller will be closer to the motor bike enabling higher speeds to be achieved.
