Hmm, maybe it's the editing...
But Lance is not at his most coherent.
This reads
like a boxing match buildup. Or wait, wrestling.
"Harder! Better! Faster! Stronger!" Philippe Gilbert
Leading with one's chin is not the best strategy.
Boxing match buildup is right, Chris.
It will be interesting how radioShack deals with the season before the Tour as I think for the stage racers (i.e. Lance especially) they have to do one of two things:
1) Avoid racing against Bert or,
2) Try their hardest to beat him in a stage race to sow doubt in Bert.
I presume Bert will do his normal races, unless he does the Giro, which he left an opening for when last I saw. So knowing how competitive Lance is (plus the doubt that he carries due to the ass-kicking bert gave to him this year) then I figure Paris-Nice will witness a big confrontation, where RadioShack will come with their A team-Lance, Levi, Horner, Popo: everyone in hope of beating Bert.
As for #2
2) Try their hardest to beat him in a stage race to sow doubt in Bert.
Even if they beat Contador in a smaller race a la Castilla y Leone, I don’t see him getting that worked up about it. The guy likes to win, but he also seems very assured of his capabilities and not that easily rattled.
I know Lance can't help himself
And it’s just his nature to play these macho head games, but for the love of God, please drop the whiny “AC was wrong for saying he doesn’t admire me” nonsense. The underlying message here Lance is, you act like a jerk for an entire career, and you’re going to find very few people (outside of your circle of friends) who are willing sing your praises.
If he wants to say that he’s going to humiliate AC next year fine, but give it a rest with the haughty “all must bow before me” silliness. Anyway, I thought Lance liked it when others showed open contempt for him? Didn’t it used to motivate him?
I think there are more than a few people singing his praises.
To me the name calling just shows off people that get maybe too emotionally involved over snippets of information and think they know these people better than the people inside the “circle”.
No horn, watch for finger.
So I take it
this is a story about the actual interview? Anyone have a link to the interview? I just kind of looked for it and couldn’t find it. I really need to know more about Lance Armstrong’s high school fights RIGHT THIS MINUTE!
I'm feverished, or the way you want to spell it
I got to the interview via
http://smh.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx pages 60-64
It lets you register for the SMH for free for 24 hours and thus read/print the article – be careful if signing up though as if you do not uncheck a load of boxes you will have agreed to an email alert every time someone at the SMH coughs.
The article is well balanced and a good read. It is written by Rupert Guinness, who is also the author of the article in the title link. It seems the same author wrote the main article and the “trailer”. But the main article doesn’t have the quote about the high school fights or anything further on that. Or indeed the quote ‘’He is strong physically, but he is possibly even stronger mentally. He ain’t easy to disintegrate.’’ Seems he kept back some of the better quotes for the advertising.
thanks!

Guinness was the same bloke
who said last year that Armstrong had tried to buy the Tour de France from ASO as part of a consortium.
How everyone laughed!
(And then we discover that he was right. )
Oh boy, Johan's joined in
“Alberto has to learn that fame is temporary. His feet have to come back to the ground.”
Methinks we could say the same for Lance. LA + JB sound like kids in a sandbox at this point.
More problematically, they just won't let it go.
I don’t recall hearing very much about any of this from AC & Co. for some time. It’s LA + JB that keep bringing it up again and again (at least that’s my strong impression). It’s becoming more than tiresome.
It's starting to sound to me...
like they are trying to draw attention to this rivalry to peak interest. It helps their cause in getting the invite to the big show to draw more attention to the rivalry. Oh you can just go with the belief that LA and JB are nothing but complete and total childish jeks.
No horn, watch for finger.
I buy that it would be an effective strategy
but isn’t it pretty certain that the ASO will invite the Shackers anyway? They may be arrogant but surely they can’t turn down the massive pr Lance brings?
Yea I was thinking that too, it's not likely at all they will be left out.
No horn, watch for finger.
Or "t" if you aren't a fan of that NY football team
Look, it's a bird...no, it's a plane....oh never mind it's just fucking balloon boy
VIKES!

I buy that because why else would LA go out of his way to say...
…this is real, unlike the other ones I manufactured before (which is the most implausible denial like, ever, but that’s beside the point)?
Lance Armstrong Is An Idiot
Atleast the crowd here is much more dignified when it comes to praising Lance. Gosh, the guy reeks of fraud and he’s living on courage alone, beating the system, living on lies and making millions out of his lies. Could you image how the sporting industry would crumble if he was to be exposed. How many people would lose their reputations, their careers, their jobs? Its like the Ponzi Scheme of cycling I suppose. Speaking of which, must read article : http://cozybeehive.blogspot.com/2009/11/8-things-on-lance-armstrong-from-other.html
Where's the dignity when bashing him?
There’s not any praising going on here really, it’s more of an occasional acknowlegdement of his accomplishments. And you bring up a point that probably everyone has thought about once, “what if he was exposed?”.
