I can only hope so

It would be like Christmas, Hanuka, and Kwanza combined. And early to boot!

Looks like it's going to be on a Belgian cable channel

According to the ad. I’m still hoping against hope that a stream of this turns up somewhere.

Hmph

Good find. But yeah, not much chance.

When will the world media get its priorities straight?

This thing has “entertainment value” written all over it. Tragic.

I'd love to know

what exactly he said about the Champs Elysees in that clip. Or maybe not. Knowing it could spoil the fun.

Thanks for that

I wonder what sort of stuff a similar channel here in Britain could fill its time with. Probably lawnmower racing.

Boonen’s PR hand;er is sure makign their money this year

“It’s important that athletes at a high level play a significant social role,” said Boonen. “For me, as for all the team, it’s a matter of great pride to be able to put our popularity to the service of people who are less fortunate. A victory in life is without a doubt more important than a victory on a bicycle.”

Oh

Had to do a double take. I sometimes forget that PR can have another meaning.

Yes. Although I’d be inclined to abbreviate that as P-R.

by tedvdw on Dec 4, 2009 7:16 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

That’s the one. Especially when I see Boonen in the same sentence.

I would give (almost) anything to see this.

Trouble is, even if it is on, I have a flippin rehearsal. Bah.

Yeah. The guy who was supposed to post it earlier got stuck in traffic, apparently.

Got to see a little, anyway.

I'll check around later today and see if someone posts a video.

Would love to have seen more than the last few minutes. Oh, well—at least I got that.

Short video recap

on Sporza. Still hoping someone will post the whole thing, since it was only about an hour, so deliberately haven’t named the winner.

Is it wrong of me to laugh

… at roadies going arse over teakettle?

I’m not entirely sure that I could do an hour of that stuff, though… if there were sheepdog trials on, I’d probably change the channel before too long ;-)

by Lou... on Dec 5, 2009 4:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Forgive the cliche

but if that’s wrong I don’t want to be right.

by Krtek on Dec 6, 2009 1:19 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

No problem!

Since there were only two of us here at the finish it seemed courteous to try to keep it spoiler-free for the rest, especially since it was possible somebody might post a video of the race. But I never did find a video, and anybody who was interested probably looked up the results anyway.

I laugh out loud for reals everytime Boonen bites it in the sand.

Listen carefully you can hear the crowd say, “Awwwwww” in disappointment.

by ZoeRochelle on Dec 5, 2009 10:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

You don't even have to listen that carefully

It’s quite clear who they support…

by dansel on Dec 5, 2009 11:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ha, that thought occurred to me as well.

Can you blame him? Imagine what a bugger it’d be to get it out of the gel.

He couldn't do without the gel, for even a few hours?

Never mind. Silly thought.

There are some pics...

… at Corvos. (under: "cyclocross – wegrenners van de weg in het veld ").

My faves are the ones of Pippo running, with bike in hand, and a huge shit-eating grin on his face ;-)
