Tour of Cali Stage 5 Pre-Race Chatter

Today's theme...

Honestly, I don't know why this isn't the official theme music for the race. Or the state anthem, for that matter. Anyway, I'll be in transit during today's stage, but the pack is in mid-season breakaway dream-stomping form, so look for Tom Boonen to once again win today's inevitable sprint. See y'all in the sunshine!

Hamilton's Jersey

Got a good look at Tyler yesterday as he topped the KOM on Crane Valley Rd. by Oakhurst. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t he our US road champion? So is his kit the official US champion jersey? I think the Rock kits looks like someone threw up on them! I mean geez, the US champion kit and it has DEAD across the crotch and big red Anarchy A’s across it! Anyone else have trouble with that jersey representing the USA?

by fausto on Feb 19, 2009 11:09 AM EST reply actions

Ahh... but if you look closely the "Anarchy" symbol...

… constitutes the “A” in US Ch"A"mp… so… you know… it has that going for it.

Unfortunately

there is no such critter as an “official . . . champion jersey” . . .

Patriotic rant, part deaux

I mean, the UCI is fining Lance every day he wears his Livestrong vest, but Ty is representing our country? What happened to the old Stars and stripes? I’m even ok with Levi’s Captain America kit from last year, but my gosh, Rock should be fined just for bad taste! And have you seen the price they want for those kits?!

ATTENTIONS ATTENTION PLEASE

Mick Rogers wants to know – white or black shorts today?

We are discussing in the team bus what team shorts we are riding today! Black and yellow or white? What’s the twitter army think?

Next step

Tweeters should decide whether or not Robbie McEwan will attack up L’Alpe d’Huez.

Ahh... that brings to mind commentary about "Pro Cycling Manager 2008" from last year...

i haven’t actually tried it, but my husband has apparently killed Robbie McEwen several times trying to get him to attack on Alpe d’Huez ;-) . I’ll ask him for any other more helpful comments that I can post later …

Just shot up to my favorite rider not born in Flanders. I forgive him for ever wearing that dreaded pink t-mob kit.

If anyone is curious...

… it’s GORGEOUS here today :) !!!! Blue sky… sun shining… a pair of doves on the ledge just outside my apartment…

You lie!

Doves would never hang around your house. Hawks perhaps, but not doves.

If there are any Hawks hanging around this place...

… it’s Stringfellow Hawke.

Yes! Stringfellow.

Not quite a manly name, yet strangely cool.

Kim Kirchen Update?

Anybody hear what’s up with him? I had my VDS team all tweaked and stuff, now I gotta recontemplate his 18 pts.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
