VDS - Raising the bar

What is nicer on VDS-eve than a last review of the VDS08 competition? We all know the top 6 teams breached the magic 10,000 points line. The winner even scored a whopping 11442 points. However, if you look at the maximum amount of points you could have scored even his score is mediocre at best. A 5.9 on a 10 point scale to be precise. Any idea which team would have given you a top score?

Star-divide

The following list of riders is the band of heroes that would have wiped out the competition.

Alberto Contador 25
Alejandro Valverde 25
Davide Rebellin 18
Philippe Gilbert 12
Robert Gesink 10
Janez Brajkovic 8
Thomas Lovkvist 6
Christian Pfannenberger 6
Roman Kreuziger 4
Sylvain Chavanel 4
Marzio Bruseghin 4
Enrico Gasparotto 4
Ezequiel Mosquera Miguez 4
Sandy Casar 4
Marco Pinotti 2
Rinaldo Nocentini 2
Karsten Kroon 2
Christian Vandevelde 2
Martyn Maaskant 2
David Moncoutie 1
Rigoberto Uran 1
Egoi Martinez 1
Morris Possoni 1
Cyril Dessel 1
Jurgen Van Den Broeck 1

These guys would have rocked your world with no less than 19336 points! If you include the races added to the VDS schedule this year this would add another 1455 points. So even the 20,000 points line would not be sacred for these champions. Can you imagine a return of more than 128 points for every point you spend on riders (138 including the new races)?

So forget the 70 point return target that have been mentioned in the VDS09 previews and dream big! The 10,000 points line is for 1-pointers, why not be a 25-pointer?

P.s.
Now that I have your attention I have a suggestion to make. Why not give the units you spend on riders a different name then points. Poca's or something to distinguish them from the points the riders are scoring. Then we'd have a point per poca return on investment instead of the point/point we're stuck with now.

Well, for one thing.

It uses last years values (Christian VdV a is 2 points, so is Maaskant) and rules (2 25 pointers)…

I have 5 in my team this year

Didn’t notice that before. So here’s to hoping they’ll keep scoring big!
