This is SoCal Racing?
Sunday was the 8th Annual Boulevard Road Race. This race is held about 60 miles east of San Diego, and is known for rough conditions, but this year was epic.
Check out the article in Velonews, and the accompanying photos. (New Window)
Here are some words to meet the required 75 word minimum. Cold. Snowy. Wet. Gavia. Ok, that last one was a bit of an exaggeration, but that's what it felt like to folks used to San Diego weather.

lol, boulevard
Silly times there. For those who don’t know the area, it’s got a bit of altitude, high desert – weather can be really extreme. Windy, dry, freezing, hot, and well, snowies.

And...
Snow level today is about 2000ft. It’s snowing in the coastal ranges, which doesn’t ezactly happen every day here :-P

Coastal Ranges looked verrrrrry pretty this weekend...
I hope you enjoyed the swell. Several of the Rescue Diver candidates on the boat were not too grateful… one even had to wash vomit out of her hair at one point.

Long Range Forecast
Long range forecast looks crappy for the next two weeks. I hope the weather gets better for the ToC.

here's my 7 day

lol, totally
Can’t imagine you’d want to be roadside if epic powdery stuff fell from the sky ;-)
And if a clean NW comes through, eh…

up here too
None of the pros showed to the Cherry Pie crit in Napa. I guess they found better ways to spend a cold, rainy Sunday. Right now, they are saying partly cloudy/showers for Sat & Sun. I rode part of the Stage 1 route west of Lake Berryessa. Those are some slick roads when it’s wet, lots of curves too. I hope it stays dry.

Palomar
The word is that if it is Snowy on Palomar they will bypass it. :(

makes sense, but...
I really hope they can ride it!
Weather changes so fast, it could be dry and sunny by then. The models are looking pretty wetlike right now though.

last year
There was snow numerous times.
The critical Mt Hamilton stage was run at 33 deg. under steady threat of snow.

Sounds like the weather may play a big role in who wins TOC
Can’t wait to see how it goes.

Well, let's see...who was it who won Poland this year?
Nasty, cold, rainy Poland? Weather so bad the riders protested? Dang, the name escapes me, but I’m pretty sure he’s riding California…

I thought you were
but it gave me a chance to write his name, and that’s something I will gladly do every time.

Yes!
He’ll be tuning up for the Criterium Jensernationale, anyways, so I totally see it.

If the weather turns nasty and it snows REALLY hard.....
….then surely Svein Tuft would be favourite :-)
errrr....am i supposed to sign this??
by Flatbagger on Feb 9, 2009 4:53 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I want to see a face off
Between Tuft and Rollin. Tuft may have more of a GC pedigree, but Rollin is certainly no wimp as he demonstrated last year.

That would be an awesome smackdown between two tough canadian lads
