Good lord
That descent of the Poggio is SOOO technical. I am also completely torn between listening to RAI or Cycling.TV at the end. The RAI guys were on the verge of tears.

RAI all the way...
If you can get RAI coverage, they’re the way to go.
I love it when Cance attacks and they start screaming. Those guys rock.
A man from Die Schweiz
with an Italian name, is to them as good as Italian! Gotta love it.

Right
It’s not like he’s Napolitani or something horrible like that.

A man from Die Schweiz
from the German part of Switzerland, is as good as a German to me.
Jay Cutler is an ungrateful punk....but please don't trade him!
But
He would speak Schweizerdeutsch!
It’s that Romansche Southern-Swiss (latin) language around St Moritz/Silvaplana that freaks me out. I can’t get ANY of it. I try but…it’s not similar to anything I can digest, at all. But such a nice area to visit. Amazing.

I'm quite aware they speak Schweizerdeutsch
the annoying thing is that they can speak perfect normal German if they want to, they just prefer to speak Schweizerdeutsch, I assume to dick with people like me who are fluent in German but can’t understand a single word in Schweizerdeutsch.

Hm
that sounds like a pretty good reason. :)

Heh.
I was kidding, I know you know. I’ve had the same problem. But yeah yer right, they prefer to speak local dialect even though they can speak perfect Hochdeutsch. I think it’s a pride thing. Like a dood from Alabama with an Ivy-League MBA still sometimes prefers to speak ‘Neck, just to mess with people. I’m ok with that though!

No issue with it either, it is just frustrating to listen to
because right when you believe you are picking up what they are saying you lose track again. But they do speak better German than most Germans, I remember Federer having a press conference and speaking great German to a German reporter, and then switching to Schweizerdeutsch to answer a Swiss reporter.

I understand them totally
with only the very slightest knowledge of Italian. And I love how they say “Chapeau Cancellara” as he cruises through the chute after the finish
Viva la Lactique
Poggio descent was once a Giro downhill time trial
I was just reading a magazine article about Stephen Roche’s Giro-Tour double, and they mentioned that the first weekend of the 1987 Giro featured an 8K downhill time trial from the top of the Poggio into San Remo.
And people say recent Giro courses have been crazy!

OT, here, but...
Do you know if Cunego is riding the Tour? I thought not, but now I’m realizing I don’t know for sure…
The reporting on this has been sketchy
I seem to recall that a few months ago, the Italian press was reporting that Cunego would do the Tour, and was doubtful for the Giro. Now, though, it’s pretty clear that he plans to do the Giro, and I haven’t seen any mention lately of him doing (or not doing) the Tour.

okee, thanks
So that’s why I’m confused. He’s definitely on for the Giro, or he’s wasting a bunch of time previewing stages he isn’t going to ride ;-)
I s’pose the Tour depends on how he goes at the Giro.
Oh. My. God.
Just brilliant. I mean, these races, before they became institutions, were all about putting on a great show.

Tactics
And we were talking about tactics – that attack from Sanchez from about five riders back is textbook. So is Cancellara’s counter. Of course, it helps to have Cance’s legs. But that was killer small group tactics in that finish there.
That was Landaluze
Crashdan: "Veni Vidi Vici beats Wing Kong Exchange... … and I’ll change my signature to a backwards smile for a month."
Franzoi wins Parijs-Roubaix and I win a date with the VDS of Team Txirrindulariak..
The Beast on display
Cance is a one man wrecking machine, the most feared man on or off the front of the peloton. A one man TTT, that’s right, call him 3T.
Hm
better check with his sponsors first.

Different era, but perhaps even more exciting?
Kelly chasing down Argentin in 1992.
Best to turn down the audio, Duffield is far from the best commentator in the world, and on the heels of the RAI call of the 2008 edition, well best to turn down the audio on this one….
Kelly
is frickin ruthless. The way he forces Argentin to set him up in the last KM… he just chased down a winning move, and now poor Argentin has to lead him out? It’s like telling someone to dig their own grave.

Ooooo amazing!
I can’t believe I didn’t see this live….I have no recollection of why or how I missed it!
Exactly!
Fortunately it’s Saturday, so you can still go out afterwards…

Actually, a disaster nearly happened.
I was supposed to have a rehearsal on Saturday afternoon but they’ve moved it to Sunday! How amazing. When I was round at the conductor’s house he did have a rather nice celeste bikey standing in his kitchen…..what’s the betting he realised his disasterous scheduling mistake?!
Isn't Sunday when that guy Bennati is modelling his new "daniele"-underwear collection at Harrods?
Did your favourite rider just win Montepaschi Strade Bianch Eroica Toscana? OK then.
