big bonus that it’s at night too, you don’t have to miss any of it because the road racing is on.

Fantastic
Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv World Champions :-)
Thanks
I am so happy for them, espesially for Mørkøv who was not a part of the team yesterday
You are pretty dedicated to be doing all this ticking!

Cav interview
was on BBC TV a few minutes ago.
He was nonchalant, had that ‘not bothered’ air about him. Says he has de Panne this week, then Ghent-Wevelgem is his main target in the Classics. Didn’t really respond to the interviewer’s prompt that it took Cipo 13 (really?) attempts before he won MSR. Also non-commital about future track appearances citing his pro contract’s obligations.
Kennaugh upbeat despite hitting the floor in the Madison. The bike took more of a beating (completely ripped the forks off) while he slid along and eventually remounted. He’s just 19, going straight back to amateur racing in Italy with a view to a pro contract in due course.
Pendleton v Kanis (NL) was as too close to call. It went to 3 races and each was so close, two of them were photo-finish. There’s now a rider who can reliably match Vicky’s speed in the Sprint.
In the men’s Sprint Azizulhasni Awang (Malaysia) had the beating of GB’s Ross Edgar, though, as in the women’s, it took three races to seal the title.

amazing, Track Worlds mentioned on local radio here...
because a local athlete was in the lead after the first event of the women’s omnium, Tara Whitten finished 2nd overall, woo hoo! I’m surprised that the local radio station even had preliminary results a few hours ago, she must have a family member here feeding them updates I’m guessing. (local media coverage of cycling is usually limited to news about Lance it seems, that’s the only reason I can think of that the sports section has had Castilla y Lyon result listings all week, they must have missed the part about Lance crashing out ;-) ).
As a Thank you Bruce
for the excellent thread I thought you may like a transcript (ish) of Cavendish’ and Kennaugh’s interview with the BBC after the race. It went something like this:
MC – “We had a bit of bad luck….Race under control, then …. crash…….! It was a good outing. We were strong as a partnership, it bodes well the future.”
PK "Notythat bad a crash…. have had worse. Shame it was a critical time of the race etc etc.
Interviewer then says well done Cav on sam remo, and surprises Cav by questioning his form running into GV. Cav confused as BBC man was a stand in (as normal presenter has no idea of road racing and despite presenting all week is today laid low with virus!) and he now has to answer a question he wasn’t expecting.
Cav puts him in his place by telling him he was riding three days of bread next week and interviewer looks blank… after that pause Cav goes on to say the following:
“I am dong the three days of bread next week, yep am straighy back on the road…. (The world championships were then equated with being like a rest week for him) …. before he "finished off his classics campaign. I do the three days of bread then GV. I am confident i can get a result. I am massively focussed to get a result!”
I found him to be almost off guard and speaking honestly – as sort of caught unawares. He just sounds like he thinks he wins. The other teams have been warned – you don’t want him with you at tyhe end ofthe race.
Chapeau Morkov/Rassmussen. Fine ride.
Thanks for the extra info
“normal presenter has no idea of road racing”
I didn’t know how if Gabby Logan was particularly clued-up on track cycling, never mind road.
According to the Comic she’s gone home ill after contracting a virus. Simon Brotherton (5Live’s man and contributor on the BBC’s 606 forums) stepped in.

5 live radio
Is one of the best sports radio stations in the world nd where the BBC always digs up the subs from. 10 mins on the internet and he gives a better Q & A than poor Gabby. She tried her best……!
thanks Simon and gbt for the follow up!
and sorry for the bad name spelling, I had no time to check how Keno(=Kennaugh) -as our commentators called him -was spelled…
Huge Thanks Bruce!!!
I was going to try and sign in and check up at the race today but didn’t get a chance.
Appreciate all the chatter above lots!!!!
