You've seen the first stage of Murcia, but that's not the only action happening today. Lampre's Mirco Lorenzetto took Grega Bole and Alessandro Petacchi on the line in the sprint finale of the Giro Del Friuli in Pordenone. This is basically a circuit race, and supposedly features some climbing, but the 25km of flat before the line allowed a large group to come in together. The Friuli race had been cancelled the past five years before returning today.

  1. Mirco Lorenzetto (Ita) Lampre - N.G.C.
  2. Grega Bole (Slo) Amica Chips - Knauf, s.t.
  3. Manuel Belletti (Ita) Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni, s.t.

Back in Belgium, Quick Step's Wouter Weylandt outkicked breakaway partner Remi Cusin (Agritubel) for the Memorial Samyn title. And that's about all I know there. Results:

  1. Wouter Weylandt (Bel) Quick Step
  2. Rémi Cusin (Fra) Agritubel, s.t.
  3. Björn Leukemans (Bel) Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team, at 0.06

Weylandt was apparently very emotional after the race

he said that the win was for his good friend Frederiek Nolf. Here is a image from sporza

I don't know if you knew this, CTV is run by Bernard Madoff

that's quite a photo...

it must be very hard on these young guys who were close to Nolf.

i’m glad for his win – my boys did me proud today, points or not!

You may very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment.

Woohoo!

At least one team has him twice, so they’ll be doubly pleased.

Ok Having Weening one time is stupid..

What does that make you when you have him 2 times?
