Driedaagse de Panne Stage 2 LIVE!

Flanders_medium

Back to the coast today, via the Kemmelberg. Frankly, it's kind of Flanders-bike-porn and won't really figure into the outcome, which I can tell you now will involve Mark Cavendish winning a sprint. Enjoy!

Good morning!

Since Chris has predicted a Cavendish win, we now know that’s the one thing that will not happen today. Blocked in on the sprint, or the sprint teams fail to bring back a breakaway?

The break is gaining ground over eight minutes now....but it'll be brought back

I’d like to see a Wouter Weylandt win..say that ten times fast…mainly because the dutch commentators are amusing when they say ‘Wouter’ and it reminds me of an old SNL skit with Deeter and his dance…

Oh, well.

Sporza’s reluctance to show up means I don’t get to watch even a little racing today. Off to get my roots covered stimulate the economy by selflessly spending money at a hair salon. Have a good race, everybody!

This from CyclingFans

Sporza should have been live by now. So either they are having technical problems or the feed is now geo-restricted for this race. It won’t be any consolation to those of you waiting but CTV is blocked here in France and coverage on French TV (Sport+) doesn’t begin until 16:00 CET (10am U.S. Eastern). We continue to monitor Sporza and will also see if there is a live stream for Sport+ when the television coverage begins.

Break just gained a minute in the last 5K

No one pushing hard behind so far. If there a head wind coming in? The fact they let them get away is interesting. It is obvious QS doesn’t really care about this race.

If you're bored chew on this....

MILAN, April 1 (Reuters) – Spanish rider Alejandro Valverde has been charged with being involved in Spain’s Operacion Puerto doping scandal, the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) said in a statement on Wednesday.

CONI’s anti-doping prosecutor has called for a two-year ban but any suspension agreed by an Italian anti-doping tribunal is likely to only take effect inside Italy.

It depends

Very dangerous when they’re wet. Also dangerous for inexperienced riders. Otherwise no danger I guess.

I didn’t plan to do the GP Scheldeprijs, but I think I will now. Only one other person has won it three times, and no-one has won it three times in a row, which is what I’ll have the chance to do.

That was back in January, though—has he changed his mind?

I'm just wondering why he wouldn't

I mean, he’d have a couple weeks off before ToR, so it’s not like he’d have to drop it to prep for something else. If he was going for, say, Amstel Gold or Fleche Wallon, I could understand, but it seems strange to me…

Which is his stated intentions.

I think it’s called Sprintus Interruptus.

by ursula on Apr 1, 2009 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Strange, why?

Interviewer was asking (42 MB) if Cav going behind Boonen on the Kemmel was because of the thing Boonen said before M-SR, that Cav couldn’t climb. Cav was being cheeky answering “no, no” and McEwen butted in from the background: “Yes it was!”

by tedvdw on Apr 1, 2009 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Cav said he was going to let his leadout man win

until Robbie came up…

Oh, and he was on Tom’s wheel when he attacked on the Kemmel. Be afraid…

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
