I heart me some first person race reports.

It pains me to write this post because as I do it means that PopUp Rolen's Fanpost will disappear from the sidebar. In a couple of weeks time his report and and photos along with Albertina's will sort of get lost within the huge volume of other great but very different types of fanposts. What I would like to suggest, because I know we heart us some first hand race reports from our very own Podium Cafe regulars is that there be a section on the blog where we can find these reports and encourage others to participate and contribute race reports and photos. What do the people that populate PdC think?

You're in luck!

There is a way to do this now, in a way. When we write our race reports (or any fanpost which you think should be included in a collection of race reports), be sure to include the tag “race report” in the column on the right hand side of the editing screen. That will result in a couple of things. First, those words will show up in a little bar below your fanpost (go ahead and edit your fanpost now, Flying Dog, to see what I mean), and it will then put that fanpost in an index of all “race reports”. This, of course, requires that the authors actually tag their race reports as race reports (click that link to see the result). At the moment, only Nikki has had the foresight to do so. However, I’m pretty sure that any of us can go back and edit our own fan posts to include the appropriate tags. I think I’ll do just that, later today.

I tested it with my post from last summer and it seems to have worked. Hopefully PopUp, Albertina and everyone else will do this, too. This is a good idea.

I think that it’s a great start to get everything together like that. I, being of the lazy sort was thinking that it would be great if say there was a space available in the “sections” area on the left sidebar. I would guess that it could be a great addition and something that could be easily found by any body.

is there a simple way

to search by tags, eg. to find the "index of all ‘race reports’" ? (without bookmarking the tags link that Sui Juris gave above?). Am I just not seeing a link somewhere to the “tags”?
