Zank 'Evans for ze other game

How come I have scored pretty much the same in both, even though the other only gives me sixteen players chosen after someone else has snagged the best ones.

I reckon my 0 in the proper game ahs probably dropped me below Frinking and Mr Majope, and maybe one of the other three or four who were below me this morning. In other words I can’t go down any faster. Look, Mum, terminal velocity. I just hope I’m going fast enough for a good solid dead cat bounce. Otherwise I only have Pietro Caucchioli and Mikael Cherel to save me.

honestly my team (riders) had been perfect, i think better is almost impossible.

Whoops, I confused Gerrans with Gadret - so I only have 200 pts

The riders I still have that need to score is actually 5 -
Casar – he keep just missing
Svein Tuft – great rider but a little over his head this year
Trent Lowe – I figure his only chance is to pick up a stage somewhere
Andre Greipel – I thought he’s score in the classics so I think he’s done for the year
John Gadret – maybe a stage later this year?

Just spinning the pedals in the hills of Western Maryland

by natbla on Apr 20, 2009 9:00 AM EDT up reply actions

Greipel could still do something.

He scored nothing in the classics last year—only VDS points came from stage wins in the Giro and Deutschland Tour. It wasn’t scored last year, but if it had been he would have picked up 100 points in Benelux for a stage win and 5th overall. As a 2-pointer, he doesn’t have to do much to earn his keep.

Tuft: if the Worlds had been Cat 2 last year, his 2nd in the TT would have been worth 300 points, and he’d have picked up 100 for being Canadian TT champ. Even if he doesn’t place as high in the Worlds, he should pick up points there, and in stage race ITTs and TTTs—Garmin is targeting the TTTs so should bring him along to at least one GT.

As for the others, Gadret hadn’t scored either by this point last year; Casar had 40 points from P-V; Lowe didn’t score at all.

You need to do this race two or three times before you can win, despite what Cunego showed us last year: winning in his first try--Frank Schleck, on Amstel Gold

by majope on Apr 20, 2009 9:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Tuft & Lowe were flyers on my part

I figured Gadret was worth at least a couple stages at some point.
I was sure Casar would have a better season so far. At the end of the day, though I can’t complain too much at this point. If Greipel can get me 100 points over the rest of the season I would be happy.

Top 30 is good for me at this point heading into the Tour season. Plus I’m happy with my 30.47 points per credit so far. I’, hoping to end up between 75-85 ppc for the year

BTW to get to 15k will require an average of 100 points per credit

I think 112750is possible though and that is 85 points per credit

Just spinning the pedals in the hills of Western Maryland

260 in this league :: 50 in the Ed. league...

Not a bad showing at all for this league, actually… I’m quite happy with it. I had Gerrans, Nuyens and Little Schleck here. My next to last pick, Vaugrenard, came through with 50 points in the Ed. League, thereby increasing my point total over there by nearly 15% at one blow. I’m going to go to Restoration Hardware at lunch and start picking out red lanterns.

In an interview on his website he said “,,Ik had zondag met hetzelfde gemak in de top-10 kunnen eindigen. Het was geen punt om voor Gilbert te rijden, al was het wel lekker geweest om een keer achtste te worden, voor de grap.”

My translation: I could easily have finished top-10 last sunday. It was not point at all to ride for Gilbert’s chances but it would have been nice to come in 8th for a change, just for fun".

My VDS team would have liked that too! Let’s hope he can do something nice in the other races this week.
