Cyclegirls Spring Classics #3 & Final
I was going to do a seperate Scheldeprijs/Amstel Gold/Hotittude, but thought it best to combine all three. A lot of these photos would be used in my Hotittude as well.
Scheldeprijs was a great day, I was with a photographer friend and we went to start and finish, as well as about 5 other spots, amazing how you can see the race so often if you know where to go. Only bad point on this day, was actually watching the crash live and seeing the aftermath. I was in shock myself for a bit i think, seeing Greg Van Avermaet walk past all bloodied everything was not a nice sight, and the rest of the guys too.. I was only about 40meters from the crash, but never want to see something like that again live... OUCH.. Here are a few pics from that day.
Next race was Amstel Gold, This race was amazing to watch, and again I had a friend who knew where to go. So we were at the start and the finish.. My aim for this event was photo Thomas Dekker, but can you believe i did not see him at all until after the race and it was for about 5 seconds when he rode past, I nearly ran in front of him just to get that pic... I was thinking of crash tackling but then thought against that.. Another highlight was meeting the Official Schleck fan club, this was so much fun, and when they found out I was a schleck fan and had come from Australia, i was grabbed and taken down the line and introduced to Frank and Andy's dad... He was a very nice person, and i was glad to meet him..
so here are the Amstel pics -
Sadly Amstel Gold was my last day of my holiday, That night we were invited to the hotel for a drink, we realised that not only were Quickstep staying there, so was Lotto, Astana, and SexyBank.. Did get to speak to lotto team doctor and was glad to hear Matty was ok.. and sent my best wishes to him. But all good things must come to and end, and I flew home the next day. Must say I had an amazing trip, and have hundreds of more pics of the races, riders and countryside..
Here a few more of my Favourite pics from the trip -
I hope you enjoyed my posts, and next trip for me will be TDU and worlds 2010.. That is if I can stop myself from going to europe again soon.
Cheers.

Great pictures! What an incredible experience....
I hope to do this in the next couple of years. You must be exhausted. What was your favorite beer?

Terrific pictures!
Sounds like a great trip—thanks for the report.
You need to do this race two or three times before you can win, despite what Cunego showed us last year: winning in his first try--Frank Schleck, on Amstel Gold

Great!
Who are the Quickstep guy you’re grabbing and the Astana guy grabbing you? And with less grabbing, but still don’t know who he is, the Liquigas guy?

Liquigas guy is Quinziato I think
waiting for Cyclegirl to tell us about the other two.

Love the pics and your tales!
Can’t wait to catch up soon! :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!

The Petacchi photo did make me giggle; it looks like you’re arresting him!
