2009 Giro d'Italia Video Analysis

How The Race Was Won - 2009 Giro d'Italia Video Analysis #1 from Cosmo Catalano on Vimeo.

Nothing much happened in the way of GC yet (it being Stage 2 and all), but the finish in Trieste was fun to watch.

Going to have to limit myself to weekends on this, I think. Maybe if events of unparalleled awesomeness transpire during the week I'll crank a video out. The good news is I've got some newer software & hardware tools to play with, so final quality should go up, and time investment should go down. Gotta say, I like the Rai graphics better when they're in Italian.

Loved it as always.

I love your videos and please keep them coming.

I think Garmin wasn’t showing a lack of teamwork on the TTT, I think their plan was to blow people off the train. I think David Millar even said it was planned that he would work and blow himself up on a pull he did so that the time would have a great lead out. I think it was similar with pate.

Cassani picked up a couple of interesting points last night

first showing how well Cav was using his team in the run-in. You can see him at one point yell to EBH to come and get him and take him to the front.

And the kick that Petacchi gave when he went nearly wrecked his bike. The wheel span and slipped sideways, and it’s a surprise that nothing snapped.

Also love the push EBH gets from the Renshaw at 1,6 km.

Cav and Renshaw are getting locked in sort of, so he gives EBH a shove telling him to go out in the wind and pull them out, which he does.

I know!

I couldn’t tell if he was trying to motivate the Norweigan or clear out space to get to the front. Crazy thing to do to a teammate in a bunch at 60kph, but I guess that why they pay ’em the big bucks.

Petacchi's had this problem before

Like a lot of bigger sprinters, Petacchi rides with a massive stem and is way out over the front of the bike when he goes. Generally the slipping rear wheel pops up in the rain, but he seems pretty used to it regardless.

Not sure I had the resolution to pick up the spin in my vidcap, but I’ll take another look tonight.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
