Creed to Team Type 1

Looks like Michael Creed did a good job of landing.  From Team Type 1:

Team Type 1 bolstered its men’s team roster Wednesday with the addition of Michael Creed, a 10-year professional who has won nearly two dozen national titles on the road and track.

[ . . .]

"It’s nice to be in a position to help out a deserving American rider like Mike Creed," Team Type 1 Director Sportif Vassili Davidenko said. "He will definitely be an asset for us in some of the biggest races in the United States this year."

[ . . . ]

Creed said he looks forward to racing for Team Type 1 beginning at Saturday’s Bank of America Wilmington Grand Prix in Wilmington, Del., and the BikeJam/Kelly Cup to benefit World Bicycle Relief on Sunday in Baltimore, Md.

"I’m excited to be racing for a team that is spreading such an inspirational message," Creed said.

Glad to see him back in action.

I don't know, but it just seems to me that Creed doesn't like racing or something

He was just talking about needing a break to determine whether he wants to race anymore or not and then this out of the blue. He went from Postal to Slipstream/TIAA Cref to Rock and now this. What’s next, team Waste Management? Really, it just seems like he doesn’t really care, which makes it hard for me to care.

If I just had one more gear, I...

He seems pretty rejuvinated after his pause...

Plus he is going to be racing about every race from here till USPRO

I'm Not Sure I Agree

I think it is natural to re-examine what you are doing and your goals after you are let go from a job. He should examine his options and see what is best for him. I love to ride my bike – my friends even say I have OCD about it, but I know there are other parts of my life.

I think TT1 is a good match for Creed – and – if anyone can get a message to him, tell him to get back to writing and blogging. He used to have on of the most humorous and insightful blogs on the net.

Creed is complex

He is a smart racer. Demanding of himself and his team. He races hard, frequently in breaks, and hasn’t enjoyed the committed support of a strong team. @ Cref and Rock there were many strong riders but not an all-for-one structure.
Mike knew last year that his big efforts were going under-appreciated. The writing was on the wall. The MB financial implosion only cemented the likelihood of his departure.
Type 1 needs him. Let’s see if they gel.

The guy races with lots of heart and always speaks his mind. I’m glad to seem move on from the Rock Racing train wreck. He is still young at 28 and will be a great addition to Team Type 1. Hopefully he can get by some health issues he has had recently with his back. When he is on his game he can beat anyone. Good climber and TT guy.
I wish him luck on his new team.

Guess what...

yup, Creed is interviewed by Schmalz over at Velocitynation. part of an ongoing series of informal interview. Good stuff as usual, with very interesting insights into the operations of RR. For example:

I understand people not having money, and I understand the economy being bad, but there’s a point where it’s not worth going to a race. If you’re going to stay, if you’re going to pack riders into a $35 a night motel, and you’re gonna drive them from California, these guys drove from California, 35 some odd hours of driving, and you don’t have equipment, and you don’t have soigneurs, and you don’t have this stuff, and you’re calling yourself a professional team. You’re under the guise of a professional team. I don’t know if it’s worth going.

Makes sense why he was disillusioned with the whole racing scene. Glad to ear that he’ll be sticking with it.

Creed

I hope this team sit. works out for him – he has bounced around a lot. Plenty of talent there, I hope he can show some.

I think Creed is going to rock...His mind is ready for what is to come and he doesn't have a dumbass at the helm of his team

I predict a few wins and a podium at Nationals for him…When the guy is in form, he can go with almost anybody..in the U.S. that is.

I remember that interview... well, the drink in the team hotel bar afterwards anyway. ha ha

Happy for Creed. I think with positive people around him, he will be a force once again to reckon with. Hard to focus on solid racing when there is so much going on in the background. Looking forward to seeing him racing with TT1. :-)

I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
