bad news on Stage 6 video-on-demand
it’s what was shown on Universal Sports TV channel, with those insipid american commentators…
unlike the earlier stage videos-on-demand, which were the replay of the live stream…

Just watched stage 6 on demand. In addition to the "insipid american commentators"
it has commercial breaks of 3-4 minutes each every 10 minutes or so. You get a black screen with a “Will return shortly” type of graphic during the break. It is definitely not “As Live” but then it doesn’t advertise itself as such. (I don’t mind the commentators, Schlanger and Gugulio.)
I liked the live version better even if I have to deal with the monotone voice of the one commentator.

just actually "watched" the stage 6 vod with the american commentators...
the “off-air” conversations are a hoot… setting up an interview with “chris” during the first break… “no one knows the results yet”…

I tried to watch Stages 2-4 vod last night, and it directed me to
a 2 minute view of the last Ks of the race. The full stages were nowhere to be found. How does one access the full “as live” videos of those stages?

there are two ways
1) from the universal sports home page, “Select a Sport” and choose “cycling” from the pull down menu. once on the cycling home page, click on “Video” tab, last one on the right. from that page, where it says “All Categories”, select the “on-demand event”. the vods should show up there
here’s a link to the universal sports cycling home page. http://www.universalsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23000&KEY=&SPID=13044&SPSID=105618
2) from the universal sports home page, select the “Video” tab, third in from the right. from “All Categories”, select “on-demand event”. then choose “Cycling” from the “All Sports” list.
i haven’t seen stages 1-3 for several days now. at the moment, only giro stage 4 is showing up as vod. who knows what’s going on over at that website.

Grueling, heh
Why do I think of the breakfast cereal when I see that word? And not in a good way.
How ’bout colorful, epic, exciting, exuberant, bursting with fruit flavor, well, really, just about anything would work. But grueling. Meh.

epic always works
beautiful would probably be appropriate in this case, also :-)

Why? tomorrow could end up being very grueling...to watch
i’m hopeful there will be some action but it could turn out to be a long boring sluggish stage, in which the break gets a huge lead and the peloton does nothing cause they are tired. In that case, a word as ugly as grueling applies.

If only this were true
Universal you aren’t allowing me (and it sounds like many others) to watch stage 7. I just get a delay signal and no video. So this post is false….

It was working flawlessly until they upgraded now it doesn’t work at all for me.

worked for me... but wouldn't it be nice...
If people who were “upgrading” always allowed a few months-worth of access via the old process, for those who find themselves shut out of the new one? If supercomputers can do it (e.g. when they get a new compiler, you can still access the previous version) how tough can it be for video servers to do it? I guess it might involve paying for use of two different proprietary sorts of software, but really, isn’t there some way to get a few months of overlap, and ease us forward gently?
