My Giro total has scaled the heights of 231.
But at least I got 40 at Catalunya today…..I must be thankful for small mercies.
Adrenalina Italiana!
I got all of 10 points today.
Might be the beginning of my Giro slide. But 594 there so far, which is better than I hoped. Nothing yet in Catalunya…
Incidentally, Dekker's latest message on his website gets translated "I feel pretty"
Honey, I agree. But you’ve got to get me some points, or your new career starts soon.
English (Google-translated):
19-05-2009 – The first day is out! Three climbs! I feel pretty … Think a good match for something intense to do! After many hours of the last few weeks … Ciao TD!
Dutch:
De eerste dag zit erop! Drie klimmetjes! Voelde mij redelijk…Denk een goede wedstrijd om weer wat intensiefs te doen! Na de vele uren van de afgelopen weken…Ciao TD!
Also, not to be critical, but does the Dutch language include any punctuation besides ellipses and exclamation points? (Okay, I’m getting just a tad grumpy with the young man.)
Dekker isn't the sharpest tool in the shed
when it comes to spelling and grammar.
redelijk = ok
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
lol, yes, very pretty.
But he finished in the group which came in a minute back today, which is rather bad for someone with his supposed talent……he must be sailing very close to the wind now. Perhaps you should call him in for an urgent talk?
Adrenalina Italiana!
Dekker
Is pretty bad in jostling for position in the bunch. Generally prefers to hang in the back of the bunch. He could have been to far behind a gap opening due to the driving of GCE. (It’s getting harder and harder to come up with excuses for the guy :-). On the other hand, his first race after a break, can’t be too harsh on him)
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
Oh my goodness, why did I never see this before
TD = TD
!!!!!!!!!
It all makes sense now.
"Never swing a small stick. " Andy Hampsten
Talk, hell. We've talked enough.
Next time I see that face, it will either be on the podium in one of the next two stages—or in the dailies for “Flesh Wallonne.”
Yay Garzelli
At least I can count on him getting 10 points a day for the next week or so.
Wow! Look at all them points...
I can lay claim to 50 of them ;-(
O lactic acid, where is thy sting?
you've got me beat by 3
there, didn’t that brighten up your day, just a little bit?
"I get paid to hurt other people. How good is that? How good is that?
I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, that's good." Jens!
375 for the Giro.
And it looks as though I’ll pick up many of the Catalunya points.
So close to getting points for Roche
He came in fourth today. Dammit!
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
Does anyone know if this has been corrected yet?
If not, 40 teams are going to hate me…
There’s a Martin mix up in the Post-Ardennes Standings spreadsheet—Daniel Martin was given Tony Martin’s 40 points from Critierium International. The 10 points Daniel got today should be his first of the season.

VDS top 20 scorers as of Wed. May 20
Di Luca has moved into the top 20; Cav is up to #6, Won’t be so sprinter/classics-heavy after the Giro GC points are distributed—all 4000 of them.

3. Tom Boonen 925

Could DiLuca crack 1200 points just in the Giro?
he was on my original team right up to the point that we started to hear that he wouldn’t be invited to the Ardennes classics. No way he gets more than 850 in the Giro I thought.
Majope...Dekker came in 10 minutes down today. Need I say more?!
Pleased to see Astarloza lurking near the top of the Catalunya GC. If only Igor Anton could do something similar….
Adrenalina Italiana!
Dang. You're not. 10:27, to be exact.
He is so transferred.
Long day--bad grammar. That's the way it works.--Lance Armstrong
In his SMS
He said he is looking forward to the queen stage. No idea why. Is he doing the Sastre approach to the tour?
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
I was talking about the TdF
Sastre is a mediocre rider in all races he enters, except the grand tours.
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
Well
7.15 on todays stage. And he came in just behind the Canadian RR champ.
"Never swing a small stick. " Andy Hampsten
Who is also on my team...
Spain hates me.

So far 540 in the Giro todate for team Frostie
Just need more help from Levi, Rogers (where did heee gooooooo!!!!), and Cav (please stay, you know you really want too)
Just spinning the pedals in the hills of Western Maryland
+115 - Thanks Cav & Davis
Now Levi and Roger need to do well over the rest of the way.
If your listening Mick, tomorrow would be a good day to attack and try and take back some time from everyone.
Levi, you need to make a deal with Sastre to tag team Menchov.
Just spinning the pedals in the hills of Western Maryland
Well, Cav's officially out now.
So 366 final for him for this race—59 points more than last year’s Giro. His 881 total now slots him in as 4th place top VDS scorer after Hushovd, Haussler, and Boonen, and is 288 points more than he had last year at this time.
Chapeau, Cav. See you in the Tour de Suisse!
Long day--bad grammar. That's the way it works.--Lance Armstrong
I have a Mr. Petacchi
Claiming to have scored 734 points so far this year. Not bad for a 4-pointer I’d say.

Giro: End of Week 2
So far, 3496 points have been awarded in the Giro. My Columbia-heavy team has snagged 794 of them, or 22.7%. But Cav and Renshaw are gone now, and so is Cameron Meyer (who is still without points for the season).
That leaves me 4 riders: Thomas Lovkvist, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Ben Swift, and Philippe Gilbert. Lovkvist might hold onto the white jersey to the end, but is slipping down the GC classification (currently 11th) so unless he rallies in the last week could be out of the GC points entirely. Still some points possible in the last sprint stage—or if Gilbert jumps into a break and stays away, but I think my glory days are over (as far as the Giro goes, anyway).
Catalunya: my team’s bad luck streak in Spanish stage races continues. Murcia, Castilla y Leon, Pais Vasco, Catalunya: 4305 points awarded to date. Team Red Shorts has won 35 of them—eight-tenths of one percent. No points from the Spanish one-day races, either—Spain officially hates me.
Long day--bad grammar. That's the way it works.--Lance Armstrong
the Flag Runners
have not yet cracked 300 in this Giro, but with the help of Mr. Gerrans today, we’ve managed to claw our way up to 286. there are so many riders in the points that i almost picked that my b-team total is 841 – these are the guys i actually had on my roster at some point but ended up dropping. once again, grasshopper, too much equivocating can lead to mediocrity…
451 points for Portinado
Menchov, A Davis and Rogers
hope for many points in Catalunha: Hushovd, Sam Sam and Tondo
Thanks as always for the continuing updates
When having a Charlie Epps moment some other numbers came off the giro scoreboard so far (subject to wild change when GC factored in)
3496 points in total
Columbia – 939 (26.8%)
LPR – 874 (25%)
Over half available points between them.
Three teams yet to score – Milram, Bweeg and Lotto.
Wow. I knew those teams were doing well, but it's good to see numbers confirming it.
And thanks for the reminder—I’ve been thinking about adding a teams column to my spreadsheet, to make it easier to see how various teams are doing. Will get on it.
Long day--bad grammar. That's the way it works.--Lance Armstrong
Hoped you would!
My attempts come out like this….. pvtio tblea!
Other stuff comes up – leeky and astana sameish – about 10 in it, but one team made a load of effort. Diglidodah doing alright without gibo so far. Garmin score one of the better ones etc.
Muk's Maybes - 652 to date
Hoping for some fireworks from Simoni and for Rogers to turn things around.
Also very grateful to Cavendish and and Davis, and as of today, Gerans too.
The less said about that race in Spain, the better though. Sam Sam, when are you going to start doing good things for us?
Making a better job of it this morning
Scores so far by team, and no of cyclists scoring

but seeing Saxo down there is a wee bit depressing.
And if it all ended yesterday and the GC and Jerseys are put in..

As the race stands there are 3 DS’s (Di luca) and 8 DS’s (Menchov) with every reason to be optimistic
People can have both riders
That would be a nice Giro for them.

For the second time!
2 times more and I’ll be happy with his contribution…
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
He's quite good at finding himself in the top ten of big stage races without anyone really noticing.
Let’s hope he can keep doing this. It would be nice if he could come 9th at the Tour again!
