McEwen out of Tour
From VN
“Now Robbie is in the hospital. His knee joint is OK, but he cut his ligaments under his left knee and the doctors are rebuilding it. It’s almost impossible his participation at the Tour de France," a team statement said.
"Robbie hit a tub of flowers and fell. He went off to hospital for analysis, said the racer's sporting director Jef Braeckevelt.
and the latest update indicates that he has a complex fracture of the tibia
in addition to the partial torn knee ligaments.
Green jersey comp opens up yet a little more.

Or Stegman can step up and do something.... or Napolitano...
"the rest was over 30. And that doesn't mean old and useless, but experienced and with the stamina"
Jens! Voigt, Crit Intl Interview, 2009
As much as I would love to see Steegmans do something in the Tour
I’m not holding my breath. He’s racing again but without any results.

According to his Twitter:
Had an accident today in tour of Belgium, broke my tibia. Operation, two screws in it.luckily the tendon is ok. Hit a barrier.
Poor guy
Lot of bad luck this year. Too bad, would have been nice if he could have shown his class one more time in a new team.
"Non-cyclists. The emptiness of those lives shocks me." Tim Krabbé
It looked disgusting.. You saw his knee.. Skin made place for it... Baaah
Crashdan: "Veni Vidi Vici beats Wing Kong Exchange... … and I’ll change my signature to a backwards smile for a month."
Franzoi wins Parijs-Roubaix and I win a date with the VDS of Team Txirrindulariak..
If you mean what I think you mean
then very glad I couldn’t get Sporza working earlier! Poor Robbie, desperately sorry for him.
You did... Nice I have shared it with you

OVER THE LINE!

I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, that's good." Jens!
I once had a wound exactly like that
Below my right knee, got it when I was 10 years old playing hockey on the driveway. Anyway, even if I still got a visible mark it wasn’t really that bad.

Hons, I think you can still edit your post, no?
Would you please change the title? McEwen, not McEwan.
Boooooooooooooo......why would you fulfill the request of someone who posed that image up above?
edit that shit!!! Eeeeeewwwiiieeeeeeee
In Chauncey we trust!
I did not pose for that image ;)
… but I could have, I guess. I once banged up my knee similarly on sharp rocks in the sea. Concurrently, I happened to be slightly [rolleyes] drunk and went straight to bed after the brilliant idea of disinfecting by taking a nightly swim in the hotel pool. In the morning I discovered that my leg/knee had been hanging over the edge of the bed for at least part of the night, when I noticed a blood trail on the wall and a small puddle under the bed. Still a weird bump on that knee after 4 years.
Thanks for reading.
His career is in jeopardy now...he has at least 4 months off of the bike and a 37 birthday at the end of June
things look bad…I hope this isn’t the end.
He was on the phone with Sporza earlier
and said he was rather disillusioned about missing the Tour. Condition was already quite good and could only improve. Also said he will definitely be at Geelong 2010, or at least would very much like to make the team. Can see himself do another year after that, “especially if it’s in a nice jersey!” Missing the Vuelta is not by choice but because Katyusha isn’t there.
McEwen's surgery successful
from cyclingnews: "Robbie McEwen (Team Katusha) underwent a successful surgery to repair the major damage, a fracture of his tibial plateau.
Doctors fixed his fracture with two screws and reported afterward that the alignment had gone well and there was no joint damage. McEwen began moving his knee, with the help of a special machine, on Friday. He’s expected to recover enough to return to his bike in three to four weeks.
McEwen’s crash, two kilometers before the end of the stage, brought an end to his Tour de France aspirations for this season. "
