Giro Finale: Roma ITT... LIVE!

Giro-live-tt_mediumIt is with a heavy heart that I type out the announcement of the Giro d'Italia's final stage. It has been a beautiful three weeks of racing, and endless fun around here. Thanks to so many of you for chipping in, especially Crashdan for his daily wit and wisdom.

While the final GC doesn't appear to be in doubt, you never know. And we should have quite a stage battle as well. Here's a short list of guys who know how to ride a time trial, and are still left in the race: Levi, former world champ Mick Rogers, Lance, Sivtsov, Brajkovic, Lovkvist, Pinotti, Possoni, Boasson Hagen, Zabriskie, Ignatiev, and of course Denis Menchov. Now all of them have been jinxed out of a stage win, so really anything can happen. Enjoy!

Ha good news(Astana)

The International Cycling Union had set a Sunday deadline for the team to straighten out its financial situation or risk suspension.

“I think they’ll meet the deadline,” UCI president Pat McQuaid said. “The deadline we’ve given them is a bank-guarantee deadline and the payments are up to schedule.”

And Proskurin of the Kazakh Cycling Federation said that the UCI License Commission will meet July 11 to decide the status of the license. Proskurin didn’t sound very positive a few days ago but hopefully things have changed.

Just like Santa they aren’t real! It’s just not possible to handle cleaning, brat sitting, laundry, cleaning, cooking, full time job, cleaning, pretend to love jerk of a husband, reading a ton of women’s magazines, cleaning, gardening and cleaning without the use of magic or should I say doping.

So last stage of the Giro...wow.

Don’t know about anyone else but it’s gone pretty fast for me.
Read on Mick Rogers twitter that they’ve done 3439km at 40.1km/h average speed and given how much climbing there was too to drag down the average, that’s pretty darn fast!

Confirmation: Giro 2010 to start in Amsterdam, Netherlands
The Giro d’Italia will definitely start in in Amsterdam. Dutch company Libéma, which holds the organisation rights, has announced this today.

Securing the Giro start is mainly due to the lobbying of ex-pro cyclist and former directeur sportif Cees Priem. The man from Zeeland has successfully used his contacts to make this Giro start in the Netherlands possible, the second one in a short time. In 2002 the Tour of Italy started from Groningen.

The confirmation of the Giro coming to Amsterdam in May 2010 means that within a year all three Grand Tours will depart from the Netherlands. At the end of August the Tour of Spain will start in Assen, July next year the Tour of France will start in Rotterdam.

Wiggie has such a strange look

He’s not particularly chiseled, and he doesn’t look like he’s putting all that much power into the pedals, and yet he blows through the check point -3.

TT is so interesting that way.

if you are on the limit on wet slippery cobbles,

bike skills are obviously top importance,
however luck for sure plays a part as catching 1 wet cobble wrong on a corner could take you out,

i think few crashes because the riders will take it slooooooow.
