YIPPEE!! - Giro will be shown on RAI-International
No stage one on Saturday... but, starting on Sunday with Stage 2, which will be a tape delay showing, not until 12.30 edt...
unfortunately, not live, but delayed coverage starting on the weekdays about an hour behind, at 10am edt, except for Monday, when scheduled to start at 9.40am edt.
you can get RAI-International thru DISH Network (the only reason i have it, for one month a year) and check with your local cable provider. tis a great pity that DirecTv doesn't choose to carry RAi-International (the only reason i put up with Dish).
if you're recording/tivoing, remember to include a generous buffer both before and after.

Just got back
from Best Buy. I have DirecTV so…I’m screwed! I bought a digital Antenna but the guy said I’m probably too close to the mountains for it to work. Trying to get Universal through the 5.2. We shall see…but will probably be doing the on-line streaming. I did send an email to DirecTV, letting them know they need to get on the ball and carry Universal Sports…maybe I will call them too.
call dtv and see if your zip code is in a coverage area where universal sports is a local channel and would be part of the local channel package

The Dtv guy is soo confused.
When I go through Universal Sports website it looks like my only option is trying the digital antenna…for 5.2 channel.
I've got a similar question
What exactly is channel 5.2 and how do i get it here in seattle?
From what I understand
the 5.2 channel is a free channel (like your local channels). You might have to get it through an antenna. I bought an amplified indoor antenna from Best Buy, about $40, but it didn’t work for me. I live too close to the mountains. You will probably be alright. I hear in San Francisco they don’t even need antenna’s to pick it up.
Hrm
Are you sure you have a digital (i.e., ATSC) tuner? And the Best Buy Moron (and truly, I bet I am being kind) didn’t sell you some fancy antenna “designed for digital” or something?
No, I'm not sure of anything....(I'm as clueless and the Best buy guy)
the box says “Amplified Indoor Antenna”. I have directv, I think I’m just going to watch it on my computer. It worked well.
Ah.
Take that back. If you don’t have an actual digital tuner (which I do not believe is part of your DirecTV box, and you probably don’t have otherwise, unless your TV is very very new), it’s useless. And whack the Best Buy guy if you see him.
Don't take the tv back... it didn't do anything wrong. LOL. :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
ooohh to make it even better, RAI had a giro show last night that I automatically picked up
yep, davide is still hot
oh and like UM said, time buffering is essential if you are recording RAI
wait, that wasn't on the schedule... so maybe stage 1 tomorrow after all?
dang, i’m gonna have to get hubby to get the equipment set up… but, puppy goes to the vet tomorrow to see if he needs eye surgery again….

The full timetable for tomorrow (all times local)
Rai3 & Rai Sport Piu 11:30-12:00 Si Giro – from the start village, usually around the time of the depart. Can have some unusual interviews, i.e. not the usual suspects.
Rai Sport Piu 14:45 Aspettando Il Giro – They always start the coverage early on the dedicated sport channel, but that may or may not mean live coverage.
Rai3 & Rai Sport Piu – 16:20-18:00 – Live, for sure
Rai Sport Piu 19:30 – 20:00 – TGiro – Davide Cassani and Alessandro Fabretti discuss things that they wish they had remembered during the earlier coverage. Sometimes they send a reporter out to the team hotels for an informal chat. Not just a highlights programme.
I don’t know how many of these you get wherever you are, but they are all worth watching out for.
thanks Monty. I love the pre & post-stage shows from RAI - some funny stuff in there
and I like di Stefano’s interviews
