Giro d'Italia Stage 1 TTT... LIVE!
And if the Giro is penal servitude, it is also great adventure, a game of kings; it is also war, an outing in the country, an exam, madness, all those things that greatly remind us of our youth. And so I ask you: You, the racers, if someone gives you a purse full of millions, saying to you, "forget it, here is the money, just give up and stay safely at home, no mud, no cramps," what would you reply?
- Dino Buzzati (thanks NRS5000!)

do they do this is your country?
Oh, that's nice!
If you're not laughing, you're crying in the Giro. Every team leaves [for the start] hours before the race starts, because you never know. Maybe they decided to strike on the road today. Maybe somebody decided not to come to work that day. Maybe the signs to the race are backwards.--Christian Vande Velde
Quote of the day
Gianni Savvio, manager of Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli has picked up a new sponsor, Sigma. But as he said to CN “We’ve got no more space for new sponsors on our jerseys”
This headline at CN baffled my brain just now:
“Sastre targets missing Giro podium”…..huh? You mean Sastre is going to try and miss the podium on purpose?! But no, a closer reading reveals that this podium is ‘missing’ as it’s the only grand tour podium Sastre has never reached. Talk about confusing headlines…!
si gira on now

I guess Sempre didn't have a gun with a range that would cover the distance between Portugal and the Netherlands, luckily for Frinking...
But does he know Frinking’s address I wonder? ;-)
Take Jens' map.. Go 1,2 km to the left and Voila!
Now I hope Sempre isn’t arround

TTT is so passe
What i want is a 184km mountain stage TTT. That would sort the men from the boys! HTFU!!! What is it….a flat trip to the corner shop and back on ridiculously over-self-indulgent pieces of semi useless machinery?? I’d rather the bike companies to spend more on making frames out of more sustainable products such as bamboo or hemp….bollocks…i can’t wait, after a 5000km trip around a little corner of Australia with Pommie relatives and NO RIDING for over a week I’ll watch any shit with wheels….I’ll calm down soon!!!
errrr....am i supposed to sign this??
you sure now?

Evening folks! And two questions-
1) How are we at >40 comments when the action is still 3-4 hours away? Scary stuff.
2) I am staying at my Mum’s, ‘cat-sitting’, at the moment. Live streamage ain’t gonna happen here (old machine, crap ISP). My place is only a 10 minute drive away… but am I really gonna drag my tired arse out into the cold* at midnight to drive home and play ‘live stream lottery’…? I am kind of torn about this :-(
*13C/55F. Yes, in my world that qualifies as ‘cold’. …and it will be even colder at midnight ;-)
in case you didn't notice
the Rai preview is on….yeah I know, how are they gonna find several hours of preview is beyond me.
and don’t mention COLD to me!
I'm only considering it
…because it’s a TTT! Wouldn’t be on the agenda otherwise.
Thank god I’ll be done cat-sitting, and be back at my place, for stage 12.
HTFU Lou....it was -2 in Canberra the other night...
and I spent most of the night in the Gutter outside the bowling club
errrr....am i supposed to sign this??
Now that doesn't sound like a happy evening :-(
BTW, I do not have a heater on. Not putting a heater on in early May – it’s only gonna get worse. I am trying to HTFU, you see :-)
An hour and a half until broadcast time, via cyclingfans
and the Universal Sports site is down.
fine here

my heart
is divided this weekend. I know that Giro is much more interesting than Dunkerque. But i’m not forgive myself if i miss a chance of Rui Costa take the “yellow”. I’m not remember when a Portuguese was in the podium of a race with a magnitude of 2.HC outside of Portugal….
best of luck to ya

Good morning! Yeah, I know.
Watching all the riders that were eventually caught doping is depressing… I had forgotten that Ricco took a stage ahead of The Cricket in his world champ kit.

Thinking hard - really hard - of something witty to say....
LOL.
I just want it to get going. I’m so psyched for this today. Driving the fam visiting goofy.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
You Garmin-people are all the same
dissing the Giro by only caring about the TTT. There are 20 more stages you know. Don’t you care about those, huh?
There's more than 1 stage?
Thinking hard - really hard - of something witty to say....
I absolutely care about them.
BUT, they are not being run TODAY. The TTT is and my boy C is going to rock! :-P
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
I would say they are going all out, whoever is at the line, is at the line.
And I am okay with that. Last year was amazingly special. :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
This is all very dream-like.
Thinking hard - really hard - of something witty to say....
What we are all wondering...
Who will be this year’s Podium Girls? Can they possibly beat THAT one from last year? You know who I’m talking about…
will there be on demand replay of this later on Universal Sports? or do you have to watch live to see it at all?
I don't know...
wondering the same thing ’cause I got to go.
"…I saw bloody Cavendish coming, really fast…"
HH
Fer sure? It doesn't actually say that anywhere...
Though all other races in the cycling queue are all available as repeats…
No answer on that. I emailed them yesterday, and received no reply yet.
I need that “as live” option, too!
good morning all
I just got in from my morning ride, and I thought I’d missed the race, but I am correct in assuming that all I missed was Boonen news? Poor bastard.
