Dauphiné Stage 7 - A Brief Race Report
The plan: Cycle up Col de la Croix de Fer via Col du Mollard and watch the race up top.
We realized there would be more action on the final climb, but this route was far better cycling/landscape. (I just finished watching the highlights - Cadel is no longer boring!)
Below: Our viewing spot 100 metres from top of Col de la Croix de Fer.
Being a decidedly amateur photographer, I screwed up and had a full memory card the instant the leaders approached. I had a backup installed when the Yellow Jersey group arrived - full too! Je suis con!
So sorry, but I thought I would still briefly share a few photos from a beautiful, and fun day.
Two cows and the actual Croix de Fer (Iron Cross) over our shoulders:
The TV helicopter hovering nearby:
A Milram rider needed to check directions? (I assume this was to act as a wind break for the crazy descent down Glandon).
The Grupetto was already almost 30 minutes behind. Boonen and pals:
I believe this is Lorenzetto. No joke: he was over 40 minutes behind already. Luckily he was closely followed by an ambulance.
So, not many photos of the leaders , but plenty of cow photos:

Great pics as always
Thanks!
I like the polka-dotted cow. Anyone know how long it’s been there? I know it was there last year, but have no idea how long before that.
I am not sure when
but I think it was erected by the nearby stables as there are a couple of smaller polka dot horses ;)

Cow photos are under-rated.
I like the KOM cow, too. :-)

Cow photos
I think it can be statisticaly proven that cow photos are two standard deviations better than average photos. Euclid did the first proof.
Nice, nice
But would it be possible for you to link the photos to the Flickr pages containing them? That would be rather more useful than linking to the pic itself … In the meantime, I found your Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/willj/
Thanks!
So beautiful over the Croix de Fer...thanks!
But tell us, was the man in the marmot suit there?!
Adrenalina Italiana!

Always enjoy your pictures Will
Especially the peeks of the peaks. Amazing though that there are a few clouds, thought you had special powers to keep all clouds away. ;-)
