I seem to recall Moncoutié saying he’s definitely going for the polka dots this year. Guess that’s not much of a surprise.

Oh yeah here it is:

I’ll be aiming for a stage win and, why not, the polka dot jersey. I’m not going for the GC, I don’t pretend to be able to challenge Evans, Contador or Valverde. For the polka dot jersey, I’ll have to adapt my riding style, I’ll have to get into all the breaks.

I love Moncoutie

He such a classy rider. I remember reading the ‘98 or ’99 cycling season preview fby some publication that I can’t recall where big things were predicted for David. At the time he was just starting his professional career and the French were touting him as one their best products in many years.

Too bad the sport has been spoiled by drugs otherwise David might very well have fulfilled his promise. A rider of his quality should at least have a Dauphine or Paris Nice under his belt.
