Nevada City Bicycle Classic LIVE Thread
SacBee.Com reports that NevadaCountyTV.Org will be streaming the Nevada City Bicycle Classic live starting at 4:45 pm pacific time on Sunday.
Click on "Watch NCTV Now" for live player.
"The inclusion of Lance made it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Gilbert Dominguez, owner of TouchDown Productions. "We are a 'go' for this event."
While there won't be helicopters and motorcycles with onboard photographers following the bicyclists, Dominguez said that the live production will give viewers a flavor of the start, finish and the pedal down Broad Street. -Gilbert Dominguez, owner of TouchDown Productions.
Got a laugh out of that second quote. As if they have the budget for helicopter shots. I was planning to go but getting in and out of Nevada City is not easy and there's very little parking. Crowds are expected to be huge due to the Lance factor. I have little patience for crowds and traffic. If I go I'll certainly take pictures and report back to the PdC.
Updated: Live video up now.

Cool
They shoudl rename this edition:
“The Is Chris Horner In Shape For The Tour” Classic.
I hope you go though having been there I can imagine the traffic too.
I was talking to a local Junior Cat 2 racer here in Davis yesterday,
a crit specialist. His dad told him he’d pay the race fee if the junior racer could stay in the race for 5 laps. Needless to say, he was taking it relatively easy on the 60 mile group ride yesterday.
In addition to live streaming...
http://www.cyclingfans.com put up a nice collection of race information, interesting articles, videos, etc. Some of the local video reports are pretty funny! :-)
Diane
What jerseys do you think Levi, lance and Chris will wear? MJs?
Could be Livestrong or Maybe even Levi’s Grand Fondo.
Cool tidbit from cyclingfans
Media interest is of course very high, local media are particularly excited and CNN, ESPN, ESPN 2, Fox News, etc. are in town. 12 satellite trucks! If all goes well, this should help Nevada City’s chances of getting included in the Amgen Tour of California.
Remember...
In the world of pro cycling, if it seems too hard to believe, it probably is.

Hey you!!!
Totally off topic… you should see how tan Dave has become from all the races this year already. ha ha. :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Hi, all. This is hilarious fun! Did that announcer just say that LA is a "world leader?" LOL
i hope they have more than the three or so fixed cameras at the start/finish. I’m hoping for a motocamera…
Cancer advocate?
isn’t that like saying Lance loves cancer? That announcer sure could have done better.
Problem is there's people watching this who don't normally watch cycling
this looks really bad. Isn’t going to impress anyone.
Yeah that sucks, but just think
in 13 days the world’s best cyclists will be flying through the gorgeous Monaco in the world’s biggest race and there will be some real awesome camera shots.
Levi!!!!

No not yet
Still have dinner in an hour.
I got socks and chocolate and… more chocolate!
Thanks for asking!
Yes- Swiss chocolate this time!
Thanks. Now let’s tell majope that this race is a cat 2 Monument VDS race.
Plus free cooking :)
speaking of which diner time here, be back soon but I’ll have no idea what’s happening.
Who is the cyclist that they are interviewing here? (He's a better commentator than the commentators.)
Tom Danielson
I could tell his voice from a video on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkCkkjxxhP0&feature=related
listen to his voice and tell me they dont sound the same
We figured out the guy being interviewed was Dylan Casey, Not much else. Lance is racing
did you know?
Via Bissell Twitter feed
Ben Jacques maynes in the 3 man break with Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer at Nevada City Classic
from http://twitter.com/sabinedukes
chase group of England, Horner, and Kelly Benefits rider are almost two minutes back.
Commentators talking about how Levi didn't think Bonny Doon was hard
yeah well he thought Monte Petrano was hard
Lyne is tweeting
Chase group at #nevadacityclassic includes Scott Zwizanski (Kelly Benefit), Justin England (CalGiant) & Chris Horner (Astana)
Go BJM!
That’s all I got :-)
Am I right that Lemond won the pro race at Nevada City as a junior? Eh, maybe I dreamed that bit of trivia.
3 in a row
he won the p/1/2 in 1979 as a jr. 1980 as 1st year senior riding for Avocet. 1981 riding for Renault.
Commentator trying to stir up shit apparently
saying Lance is bigger than the sport and the French are whiny jealous twats.
No, Lance is not bigger than a sport that's been around for hundreds of years
the French? well yeah they are a bit jealous but they are a lot more friendly towards Lance than the media would like
More than five, is all we know. The commentators lost track of it a half-hour ago, but said that the official at the finish
would announce it when there was 5 laps to go. Or ring a special bell, or something like that…
They said it is a 90 minute race with no set amount of laps. The officials decide when to make it 5 laps remaining to get it at 90 minutes.
Actually we time the laps to start
and then once we have established lap times we go to laps to work to the time of the race. So at races, you will first see the lap counters counting up in time, and then once laps are calculated, you’ll see it come down by laps.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Hey gang!
Thanks for the tweet Gav! I worked the track yesterday and a race today. Sitting here listening to this while uploading pics I got a chance to take today. :-) Who knew you’d all he out here!
Happy Father’s Day to al you dads!
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!

I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Hey Chica!
Got to chat today with Kenny Labbe. He was announcing our race. Fun guy.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Me too, me too!
I’d love to see him do well. Although I’m pretty sure there are some Jelly Belly guys here.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Did you get to sit and enjoy your food after cooking it all? :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
A huge congrats to Shelley Olds of Proman for an outstanding win earlier!! She is on fire!
Thanks for getting this going ZoeR….and letting us know on Twitter that the thread was going!!
If This Was 1985...
…we would be reading the results of this race in Winning magazine two months from now.

Indeed we would!

Hey you! Hope you didn't eat all your chocolate in one sitting! Happy Dad's day!

funny tweet from Neil Browne of Road Magazine
“playing a drinking game. every time the race announcer says Lance take a drink”
He just realizes the group he has following him. Tee hee.
Drink! LOL!
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Really, now, this is just getting funnier and funnier! I've just cracked open a Leffe to celebrate the
end of the weekend, and the end of the race. Who knows how entertaining this could be in the next 7 laps?? Nikki, open a bottle of wine and join me!!!
If I do that, these pics are never going to go up!
But please take a drink for me! I am so there with you in spirit! Lots of racing, two days in the sun, finally a chance to use the new camera…. wine would not be such a good idea tonight. LOL!
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
the audio I'm getting
is Charlie Brown adult/teacher speak—which might be better than actually being able to hear them.
This should not surprise anyone.
I would think he would not contest the finish just get his name out there and let the domestic guys win. I of course could be wrong as things like that rarely happen…. :-P
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
let the domestic guy win?
no way, they didn’t do it at Gila, even when the guy was truly not getting paid by his team (Baldwin)
There was a little sarcasm in there, but again, this is Lance so flyers for sport would not apply.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
LOL - not a worry. I reread it and it isn't the same with out giggles.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Axel Merckx works for Livestrong right?
the announcer better hope he wasn’t listening to them and gave ol paps a call.
Let's see
Lance will win this race. Cancellara won that other race this morning. Which event was more important?
Counted that and the gap is at 10 secs.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
I asked some 20-somethings at work
did they know what the Miracle on Ice was, and they responded they thought it was a figure skating show. And no, they weren’t kidding. One person actually said “you mean the movie? was that a real event?”
I hope our EuroPeloton man chimes in tomorrow on this.
He’s doing the emceeing at the race.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Thanks for the fun break tonight gang!!!
I need to get these pics done for my guys. Catch you a little later. :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Hey it's monumental for Nevada City cycling fans
Now both US TdF champs have won there, pretty cool claim to fame.
(snark) well
Y’know, Armstrong could probably buy this race and still spend less than his monthly Austin water bill . . . (/snark)
US nats?
He expatriates just to show Lance who’s boss.

Oh, isn't the greatest national champion
of Splane Fred Mertz . . . which is why Lucy always had that ‘splanin’ to do?
(Lame, I know . . .)
Briggs chattin' with Lance. :-)
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Oooh so who won the "what race will Lance win first" competition?
Anyone, anyone?
Did that really exist or was it something I made up in my head?
Holy crap, now that's funny!
Where is dad today? Can he check for us?
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Dad will be sad he missed the fun.
He slept through the TdS today too.

Okay, this time I'm seriously going to work on these pics.
Love the new camera Steph! Love. It. :-)
Going to drop Briggs a note too. ha ha.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
They are interviewing him now but they cut away. Booooo.
by ZoeRochelle on Jun 21, 2009 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions
Wow the commentator just pulled out a "Alberto will not be sleeping well tonight"
newsflash: “he is already sleeping”
Now the commentators(I really need to stop listening to them)
are trying to start some NoCal vs. SoCal battle
that made me laugh. Waiting for all the SoCal folks to start bitching
hey neilroad should be speaking up on this one
I kept the sound on while working on the pics.
It was good to hear that they did talk to him.
I love C, not because he rocks as a cyclist, but because deep down he's a band geek! LOL!
Tour de Suisse? don't believe it has much of a reputation
although nothing will shock me as much as Tony Spartacus winning the TdS, not even Lance winning.
Also the announcers kept saying this was the last time Lance may ride in the US
uh no, he’s doing Leadville in August and I’m definitely getting out there to watch the race this year.
Ah I didn't know that, interesting
he’s also scheduled to do the Tour of Ireland right? Or was that just silly rumorage?
What ever the Leprechaun has at the end of the rainbow
here is a VN story from February that confirms his participation.
so...
We were talking trivia here at the shack while consuming the wine.
Is Armstrong the oldest ever winner of Nevada City? I’m going to guess that Moninger was probably the oldest before today, but like, I could be making that up and stuff. I don’t think Tilford or Overend have won it any time recently.
Okay, back to the wine. This is a very funny thread. Wish I hadn’t had to head out during it and stuff.

Love this photo, all Ben needs is a whip. Does he look like a guy who struck gold or what? “Say Lance, pick it up a little buddy, we have a serious gap.”
