Doesn't get much more fun than this: six or seven teams all with the long knives out for Fabian Cancellara today. Most of the last 28km are uphill, the last such km of the 2009 Tour de Suisse where people like, well, everyone else in the top 10 have an advantage over the Swiss crono-stud. If they do manage to drop him, then the second wave of battles begin, starring a long list of protagonists, but dumping Cancellara is the first order of business, make no mistake. Enjoy!

If I didn't enjoy the races I'm working as much as I do
I would have scaled back all of the races I am on already but it’s been a lot of fun. So far, it hasn’t been too terrible but my July is packed and missing stages of the Tour in live threads is starting to freak me out. I do look to have the opening weekend open though so there’s hope. :-)
Have fun today! Cheer on C for me. Great seeing him looking so comfortable after the crash. July is going to be a good time! I was hoping I could stick it out for out 3rd place but I need some sleep or it will show in the morning sprint timings. :-)

(admittedly that was not actually a conscious choice… the biggest personal crisis of my life was happening, I was just too distracted to care!)

That pleases me greatly because Luis Leon Sanchez is in there! He’s joined by Christophe Riblon (AG2R), Jonathan Thire (Auber 93), Tomasz Marczynski (Miche), Fumiyuki Beppu (Skil-Shimano), Florian Vachon (Roubaix Lille), Florian Morizot (Besson Chaussures), Mikaylo Khalilov (Cerimica Flaminia), Marco Marcato (Vaconsoleil), Nicolas Jouanno (Bretagne – Schuller), Johnny Hoogerland (Vaconsoleil) and Perrig Quemeneur (Bbox Bouyges).
There’s 69km left and they have just under 4 minutes. Everyone’s working except Marczynski because he’s there to mark the dangerous guys for his team leader Niemiec who currently leads the GC.
There’s a French ticker you can follow, but i’ll keep updating every so often..

The Francaise des jeux directeur sportif was very smug saying they’re going to bring the break back in later. We’ll see about that Mr!

Just under 35km to go in Route du Sud and....
Luis Leon Sanchez is on the move! Yes, the Caisse d’Epargne rider attacked and has shelled some of his breakaway companions on the climb, Thire and Vachon are together about 20 seconds back and Quemeneur and Morizot have cracked.
So it’s Sanchez, Riblon, Marczynski, Khailov, Marcato and Hoogerland. But LL is by far the best climber and descender so I wouldn’t be surprised if he drops the others :) Go LL!!! Agritubel are controlling the peloton..

Minimised the peloton on the climb, race leader Niemiec is still in there but a gruppetto has formed. It seems Hivert and Jeannesson may have been dropped, which sounds surprising, could be wrong though, translation is very dodgy!

Forgot how much Pereiro did to disrupt some of the chase and noticed Valverde was getting in the way in the bunch sprint, disrupting rhythm a little. Awesome.

I hadn't either until I watched this time. (Which was what,3rd time?)
The Pereiro thing is easy, he just sits on the front of the chasers once he’s chased them down. More of a burden than help. the Valv one is harder to spot because the cameras focus on LL and you can just see it going on in the background.

I’m hoping someone other than Saxo and Columbia can win a stage (nothing against the two, but theres other teams deserving and oher riders!) so I’m thinking somone like Taaramae? Very active the other day. Or from a fan biased point I’m hoping Capecchi can go for it, he’s been up there everyday, looks good and recovered from his tendonitis :)

Chaos over in Route du Sud...
6km away from summit of final climb- At the front Riblon and Marczynski 1.15 ahead of Gonzalo. Then a group of favourites (GC leader Niemiec is in there) behind Riblon/M at 1.30 mins which is seems Sanchez is in. Not sure what happened, the people doing the ticker lost live coverage.
Maczynski went over the summit first, then Riblon, Fedrigo was next over in the group of favourites, they’re 1.15 down, descent time….

It was the Italian National Championship Time-trial today and he once again won (his fourth time), continuing the world-wide Columbia winning domination. Gabriele Bosisio (LPR Brakes) came second by 19 seconds, yay! Mauirzio Biondo (Ceramica-Flaminia) was third. Other notable finishers were PDC ladies’ favourite Quinziato who claimed tenth. Bruseghin was 6th.. And for me, Matteo Montaguti (LPR Brakes) was 5th! Yay.
