Tour Rosters: Katusha
Katusha has also released their roster for the tour. Other than provding nicknames involving silly hair, it's not clear that they'll accomplish much else. Karpets and his Mullet will be the GC guy, Napolitano and his unibrow will be trying for the sprints and Pozatto will be looking for whatever he can come up with.
- Alexandre Botcharov
- Stijn Vandenbergh
- Serguei Ivanov
- Vladimir Karpets
- Joan Horrach Rippoll
- Filippo Pozzato
- Mikhail Ignatiev
- Nikolai Trusov
- Danilo Napolitano

Tis not a bad team for stage hunting at all
guys like Ivenov, Pippo, and Ignatiev are very good stage hunters. GC wise they blow, well it could be worse but it’s not that solid, plus Karpets isn’t talented enough to win a Tour. Don’t think Napolitano can beat the world’s best so they should shoot for those break-away wins and a top 15 placing from shaggy.
But but, you forgot Botcharov
This guy has got to be my Haussler. Damn I know, I said I wasn’t going to fret with this VDS stuff anymore this year. But I could end up having a really impressive haul in the Tour.
I think he can win every single race he enters from now on...
and still not get as many points as GHH has now.
I just did a little math a la ursula,
you give my man Botcharov 1st for every race he enters and that’s 2820 pts. min for the Tour. I didn’t include best young rider jersey competition.
Is there an answer to the probability of Botcharov doing that compared to say, winning your State lottery?
If you end the race 30k from the finish line
Botcharov is great. But his ability to survive to the end of a race or stage has not been proven.
Bummer that they're taking such a hard line on Steegmans.
His win on the Champs Elysee last year was sweet.
I can't understand why people cheat--Mark Cavendish
I think Napo is better than or then Steegmans..
He only doesn’t get much chances.. He will sprint top 5 a couple of times.. Or that’s what I expect.. Pozzato think he is too good and will do anything.. Maybe he want to ry a breakaway in the last 10km but if he wants a stage he shouls attack from the start. Botcharov isn’t doing much lately like Ignatiev. Karpets is a solid pick for top 20 and the rest unknown.. We can see the in the attack but That are probably going to be anynomous(Wat a crappy wrd is that!)

Napo can win a sprint in the Tour. Seems like every year there are some tricky run-ins to the line, where there’s a late crash and only the 4-5 guys who moved up too soon make it past to contest the sprint. He can win one of those.

Unibrow sure did better in 2007
800+ VDS points vs 25 in 2008.

Not Katusha but also Tour selection news
just saw on cyclingstartlists.com that the final selection for FDJ will be made after the nats and it is between Jeremy Roy and Di Gregorio. Both French so the question is, will they race against one another knowing a Tour spot is on the line, even though they are on the same team? Seems like this may bring up some internal battles that are surely unwanted.
Par for the course I'd say
for a godawful Pro Tour team. They probably think this competition builds character. Elan.
godawful team?
they totally dominated the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo!(yes I copied and pasted that name)

Maybe the Vuelta?
he could be good for the points race when the usual big names drop out for the Worlds.
Up to know he has 43, not counting the nocturnes he did in G.B....
so if you add in a whole Vuelta that would be 64 race days..that isn’t including championships races and the other races he will do this year…So for only being 22 he probably shouldn’t do more than 80 days so he doesn’t go into exhaustion….The Vuelta is about 50-50

Yep, they don't want to over race him for sure.
He did the local crit in Otley last night too, came 3rd to Jeremy Hunt.
Adrenalina Italiana!
Just see in a portuguese site
Rui Costa could be selected for the Tour!!! 3 places for this 4 guys: Rui Costa, Arnaud Coyot, José Joaquin Rojas and Rigoberto Uran.
Uran probabily goes, the others…
the announce
will be after the nationals championships.

Very cool.
Hard choices there. I can’t see JJ doing much in this Tour what with all the speed that will be on display. I’d take the other three,
Ooh.. It's Trussov
