Nicole Cooke wins British RR title for the tenth time.
Lizzie Armistead (who is going to be a fantastic rider, I think) second & Emma Pooley third.
Cooke would’ve probably won anyway, but I find it a bit disappointing that the major hill on the course (the Tumble) was cut out of the women’s race. I heard Pooley was pretty disappointed about that as obviously a harder climb would have suited her. But essentially (as happens quite often) the women have raced the juvenile course rather than the proper ‘grown up’ one.

Controversy/bloody-mindedness (according to taste)
The commissaire refused to award Lizzie Armistead the silver medal, as she had already been awarded the U23 jersey for her second place behind Cooke. This seems to be an entirely novel interpretation of the rules in that in all the years Cooke won the senior national championship as a U23, the question never arose. It makes you wonder what’ll happen tomorrow if – as is not entirely improbable – a rider eligible for the U23 competition wins the men’s race. On the one hand I hope it’s a different commissaire who’ll make a different ruling; on the other hand, if that happens, it’ll make today’s situation seem like even dafter.

Another example: Pete Kennaugh finished second to Rob Hayles in the men’s race last year & was awarded both the silver medal & the U23 jersey.

Only inside Australia the jerey was for who ever was first. Outside Australia the jersey was for Walker

I’m going to Götene tomorrow for the Swedish Championships, and my plan is to use twitter for some live reports. The race is 201 km, starts at 10 cest and my hunch is that they will reach the finish around 15.

Cardoso is our best sprinter, but has the style of Freire
He had Liberty Seguros working for him, covering the attacks of Bruno Pinho and more danger from Tiago Machado.
In the last kms, there was a group of 5 including Cardoso, he was the less tired and won. Congrats,
