Charlie Wegelius tweeted that he isn't on the team.

Just found out I’m not riding the tour. I’m a bit sad, but that is sports. Really hope Cadel and the boys have a great race.
such a pro...
other riders could learn from him…

you could field a decent team with excluded Columbia riders..
EBH, Barry, Lovkvist, Suitsov, Pinotti, Hansen, Greipel, Albasini, Possoni.

I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, that's good." Jens!
Are we sure Skil-Shimano has to have a spot?
I’m thinking Team Columbia II : The Return of the non-Cavs
Of course we're sure
van Hummel and Hivert will be huge surprises for green and yellow.

Bubble Boy just received bad news
He has been excluded from the team of excluded riders by the excluded DS.

no Evans?!?
Oh! Haha!
I scanned your bulleted list, and there was no Evans on it. Completely missed the “Cadel to be helped by…” bit above.
Ok, everybody calm down now. *koff*koff*

Alas, no \o/ appreciation.
Then there shall be no \o/ going \o/ !!! with stage win.
Mon coeur appartient à les forçats de la route.

re your VDS teams: If anyone was thinking of Delage (presmably he’s cheap, though I haven’t checked) – Delage is posted on most sites, with Sentjens & Wegelius as reserves. An earlier link (now lost) led me to believe Delage would not start. Wegelius has confirmed he is not riding, but Piet van Zutphen, at his

has Sentjens instead of Delage.
@ cyclingfever, we still list both (& if you wish to predict each & every stage aswell as play VDS, you’re very welcome @

Matthew Lloyd (Aus)

yes,
I know it’s on the teams website, but …. mmm…..
see the article below posted by Frinking
… if Sentjens is actually on the Tour team rather than Delage, then Sentjens doesn’t actually seem to know it as he’s doing interviews with the Belgian media about how disappointed he is…
I was thinking for an own fanshot but it fits here.
Sentjes isn’t happy and he clearly express that. Source
There isn’t a spot left for Sentjes in the Tour de France squad. They preferred the selection of Lloyd and Scheirlinckx. The rider reacts diasapointed, Note: The word is too soft.
‘Since the winter I sacrifice my own chances for the squad. When I thought it was pay-back time they let me down’ complains Sentjes. ‘They picked Scheirlinckx over me for an incomprehensible reason. I don’t see any logic in that. This isn’t fair’
‘Also Lloyd isn’t better than me’ Sentjes continous. ‘I rode 500km ahead of the bunch in the Dauphine and Lloyd 1. They of course only monitored his work and didn’t show any of my work. Terrible if that is the norm. I would give my place away without problems if there where better riders than me. I love to bike, but my cede(?) is over now’
So.. 3 questions..
1. Is he really better than Scheirlinckx and Lloyd.
2. The Dauphine story. That’s bull shit right?
3. Is he gone next year or is this dissapointment. VacansOleil or Skill are pretty squads for them

Frining "It's what he thinks.. But he always do.. I eat my shoe if he ride top 15 in le Tour" about Devolder
2 could very well be true (and also irrelevant)
Sentjens could have been the one to pull50 km on the flats. If they figure they have have that work covered by other riders but need additional support on the climbs Lloyd might be the better choice. I suppose that covers question 1 as well. It’s not always the objectively “better” rider that gets selected, sometimes it’s the one who can perform a specific task for the team.
With van Avermaet, Scheirlincxk, Delage and Lang it's covered.
A climbing type like Lloyd is more logic. But I don’t think we will see Silence ahead of the bunch often. But that’s an other discussion

Is it just me, or are the reactions from the excluded riders more public this year than before?
Anyway, what I saw in DL was a Lloyd who did a good job as a mountain domestique, I wouldn’t say that Sentjens got scrapped because of him because they are different kind of riders.

Don't know. Maybe the internet makes them more open..Or just more people arround who post reaction of excluded riders.
And agree with Lloyd. Only think Sentjes is better than Delage.. Much better. Don’t know why they picked him

Maybe there are more people with contracts expiring this year?
Those are usually the one who are vocal since they lose out on the chance to increase their value and take part in the negotiation-bonanza at the Tour.

I'm betting on a Skil-Shimano rider
Would be a hoot for that Japanese Beppy guy.
