2 Japenese riders in the TdF
They will like that in Japan. This could land the TdF quite a lot of sponsorship or broadcasting rights money.

Don't think the ASO isn't picking up on it
first news article I read on the Tour web site is this one.
Good for them.
Seriously.
Any sport with obvious deficiencies in representation should work hard to correct it, and I’m glad to see some possible movement here.
Movement is always easier when there's money behind it.
cyclingnews reported that the rumor was Shimano insisted on a Japanese rider for the Tour team.
I can't understand why people cheat--Mark Cavendish
Excellent point!! Having the Japanese riders should be good for sponsorship in general. I always thought that Beppu would ride the Tour for Skil, simply because they have such a asian influence on the team…plus he is pretty good.
Anyone surprised that Veelers or Wagner didn’t make the squad? Veelers especially. I really think he is a strong guy who would represent in long break attempts.
Not surprised with the French riders either. All 3 deserve to be on the team.
Veelers is just 24? Much too young for long breakaways

Frining "It's what he thinks.. But he always do.. I eat my shoe if he ride top 15 in le Tour" about Devolder
It's not that (I don't think 24 is too young at all!)
but he has not been quite 100% healthy all year. See http://www.tomveelers.nl/
I don't think 24 is too young.
I did just read where he has been ill so I know why he is only an alternate.
Beppu going to the Tour is big news in Japan....
Okay, okay….basic translation is that NHK (main news channel) makes a big announcement…and airs a telephone interview.
Fumy is the former TT and road champion of Japan. I am extremely excited for him. I am hoping he attacks and gets lots of air time (smile)
YaY Koen....
Such a nice guy..

A friend
(who may be reading – say hello, P.!) is staying at the same place as the Skil Shimano team in the run up to the Tour. I have encouraged him to try and jump onto team rides and report back on the ass whooping that ensues.
Ohh that would be great reading..
Hey Sui Juris’s “Friend” – Photos too will be nice :-)))

Hivert a sleeper?
Didn’t he have a good result in Paris-Nice? Whatever race it was, at the time I remember people thinking he might do some things since they got an invite to the Tour.
He was 8th in Nice
2nd in the Young Riders Classification. 6th in the Etoile de Bessèges earlier this year. Would be great if he could do something in this tour but I expect it to be about gaining experience.
