Oh geez, here we go...
This could be entertaining ;-)
(the reaction from the media, and the vast majority of the public… who may have heard of Cadel, but probably don’t have much of an idea about who Stuey is…)
And he’s right. He’s never going to win the Tour. Sorry mate. I think you are not capable of winning. There will be always one better. But maybe, very maybe(does that exist?) if you finallyt attack and go in the sun, The Shadow, you will win. Probably not but hey. I love that idea!
Crashdan: "Veni Vidi Vici beats Wing Kong Exchange... … and I’ll change my signature to a backwards smile for a month."
Frining "It's what he thinks.. But he always do.. I eat my shoe if he ride top 15 in le Tour" about Devolder
Sounds like mind games
Make Cadel loose confidence in his team and in turn himself.
If I just had one more gear, I...
I think Stuie's a straight shooter
And as much as I’ll be rooting for Cadel this year (just like 2007 & 2008), I don’t know if he can do it. Especially with a TTT.
Why do you think he’s been unable to get a top team around him? Lotto just not having the funds? Bad luck?
If he’d tried looking for another team, do you think he could have ended up somewhere better? It just seems really unfair that this guy is coming up on his third year of having to do pretty much all of it himself, when other guys have fantastic teams around them every year. And to get 2nd place (and be pretty damn close to 1st timewise) two years in a row, while lacking that support- I’m really proud of him for that, I think that’s a pretty amazing achievement. Yappy dog and all :)
And Chris Horner not even going to the tour this year- I know Johann was just looking out for Astana’s interests when he denied Horner the opportunity to find another team for the tour, but you have to think Lotto would have jumped at the chance to have him back. It’s a shame.

I hate to say this but it really seems to me like The Australian was looking for a catchier headline than the interview merited. It seems to me that “Cadel can’t win Tour” is misleading at best – nowhere is O’Grady quoted as saying that – sounds to me like the reporter asked him about Evans’s chances, and O’Grady responded that it will be tough for him to win because he doesn’t have a very strong team backing him. Pretty mundane if you ask me.
Agreed
He sounds like a lot of guys from other squads, speaking a little openly but also in his own team’s interests. Amounts to nothing.
I don’t think Cadel can win, but only because Contador is unstoppable.

I have never been a huge Cadel fan
But one perspective is that he is a terrific rider that is capable of hanging with the strongest riders in the world …. but can’t quite beat them. It sucks to be the 3rd best in the world (but surely demands respect)
My personal interactions (as a polite but intruding fan) – BRIEF – have seen him as a cheerful, friendly guy.
I too doubt that he can quite manage the biggest climbs ….. but ..
I am a (new) fan.
sometimes life is a false flat
They are simialr in many respects
But I can’t say that I’ve ever seen Levi “hang tough” like Evans has.
Damn, there have been times when it looked like Cadel was turning himself inside out just to stay with the mountain goats – respect!
