Glad it was just the two of them. I imagine it was a couple of drunk guys on top of their camper (one daring, one shooting). I have no idea how you hear it happening, though.

For him to have heard the shot, it would have had to have been really close range.
It is hard enough to hear things like that on a bike. But an airrifle is extremely quiet. I am very surprised he heard anything. And even recognized it was a shot, since it doesn’t sound like a normal gun.
To bad they didn’t find the idiots. This sounds like something some teenagers would have done.
