Random TDF chatter

Because I think we need a thread like this. Where we can discuss the fact that Dan Martin is injured, tendonitis, and will be replaced by Martijn Maaskant. And other important stuff. Like... uhmmm... how about 'em Cubs, is it their year yet?

Star-divide

Talk in everlasting words, and dedicate them all to
Me.
And I will give you all my life, Im here if you
Should call to me.
You think that I dont even mean a single word i

Its only words, and words are all I have, to take
Your heart away

Maaskant in

So we’re back to 11 Dutch riders this year. Worse than the golden years when 4 Dutch teams brought 30 Dutch riders to the start but a lot better than the recent low with 5 riders.

Aw mate, rest up...

… now is not the time to be sick!

I have early nights on the schedule for tonight and tomorrow. I am sooo tired… my eyes have been stinging for most of the week, and we haven’t even started with the ‘July noctournal schedule’ yet! And I foolishly said today at work “Yes, OK, I’ll do overtime on Saturday morning”… oh great – my day is gonna start at 6am, and the SBS coverage starts at 23:30 :-(. ….Anyone got any tips on how to sucessfully achieve an ‘afternoon nap’?

So they keep saying :-)

And for some reason 12 of the stages are being shown live on both of their TV channels. Weird.

Among the things I've learned today

Nicholas Roche and Dan Martin are cousins. More on Dan Martins injury at CN.

This could get exciting

Vinokourov announced today that he’s returning to bike racing on July 24:

“I do not see myself anywhere else than Astana. This team was created in 2006 with the Kazakh cycling federation, it is our baby.”

From now on everyone that writes negatively about Vino will have to answer this question:

French Eurosport starts their broadcast at 17.45 cest

But the rest starts at 18.15. My guess is that it’s lot of chitchat in the beginning, and that we will be able to see the team presentation as such.

Tony Martin

He’s still pretty much unknown here in Holland. That means I can kick ass in tourgames here if the guy can do something in this tour.

What do you reckon? What can he do? Place top-10 in time trials? Go for KOM points? Ride top-10 of the young rider classification? Win from breaks?
