Jens! update

As this is about Jens! I figured it deserved a post all of it's own :)

Anyway, apparently  the big guy is hoping to be released from hospital tomorrow once they've done one final head scan (he had a minor blood clot it seems, not unexpected considering). He still doesn't remember a thing about the accident. One minute he was thinking about how he could do more work for Andy & Frank, next thing he was on a stretcher in the back of an ambulance (reminds me of skier Dani Albrecht - he has no problem watching video of his horror smash from January this year because he has that same blank about his accident, for him it's like it's someone else he's watching)

But the best news is that the crash has made Jens! determined to come back for one more Tour (he'd spoken on the first rest day about this possibly being his last one)

And in typical Jens! fashion (and something that made me smile) apparently he's already spoken to Riis about when he can get back on the bike - he mentioned the Denmark Tour but seen as this starts in a week or so, Riis' response was that that might be a bit too soon :) Good luck with trying to calm him down there Bjarne!

Riis has also said Jens! would be in his 2010 Tour line-up and that he's also already spoken to him about what he could do with the team once he climbs off the bike (imagines Jens! as very scary (in a nice way) DS in the car) - something of a hands off to Team Sky, amidst rumours that they had approached the german re some kind of contract

thanks for the update!

Jens!! Let’s pedaling!!

Why do I get the feeling it would be a bad idea to have him DS behind the wheel of a car? Waving his arms, talking… it might not be safe.

I say have him DS from a bike. :P

One thing I will never understand...

…why does the DS drive?

I’m assuming Brad, Gav, or R Mc has the answer, so this is a legit question.

You see how calm Vaughters is? That’s because he’s really one giant seething ball of Evil inside. With like, extra Evil.

What Jens! needs is his own cycling talk show.

because you can only have 1 car?

so you need to have everyone needed there. 2 DS, 1 mechanic and 1 invited (for PR reasons)

Oooh

So The Great Bjarne has offered Jens! another year?! Cool :-) .

This makes me very happy. To get one more year of Jens! riding,

suffering, and putting the hurt on the peloton is GREAT news! I’m so glad he’s feeling better, and glad they kept him in the hospital for a few days.

And I’m all for Jens! as coach/asst. ds/whatever at Saxo after he retires; he surely seems savvy enough, and has great communication skills :-)

And I’m usually against reality tv shows, on principle, but I’d watch Jens! in one, for sure. I’m thinking up names now: “Jens! & Friends!” “More is Better!” “People Are So Stupid!”

New Hard Man Team

Voeckler joins Jens and Eki comes out of retirement and they get Ignatiev as a young un. Their problem is everybody wants to be in the wind. So they just ride next to each other …

I hope there is no longer term issues for Jens. There could be! headaches and worse over time.

Cool deal

The thought occurs: if Jens! drives the car behind Schlecket during an ITT, perhaps Schlecket could win the thing. I know it’d make me go faster…

Rofl..

…yeah, like pedaling for dear life to try to stay out of his way…

I'm happy

Next year I’ll pay a little more attention to races like the Jens! Invitational. It’ll be quite emotional when he gets down to his last few races.

he only broke his face, right?

You don’t pedal with your face.

Well, Jens! could pedal with his face if he wanted to, but he’ll just use his legs.

Jens! as a DS in the car?

“Everybody, in the break now!”

Or even better…Jens! the first DS to ride a bike – “Everybody, in the break now! Like this…!”

CN is reporting today that Jens! has a previously-undetected

broken jaw and must undergo surgery Friday in Berlin. Link to article HERE. Aw, poor Jens!

And how can a University hospital in Grenoble not find a broken jaw?

They should have asked BahBordeaux

I hear he finds those all the time.
