Tour de France VDS Points: Week 1
Most recent stage will be on top. Season-long (unofficial) spreadsheet here. New! See the VDS points stage by stage. Ideal for Tour-only people who don't care about the rest of the season's points, as well as anyone who wants to see where the heck their Tour points came from.
Note: like the year-long version, I set the new stage-by-stage spreadsheet so anyone can edit it, to facilitate sorting and re-sorting to your heart's content. I do recommend saving your own copy to play with, but realize that for various reasons that might not work for everyone. So if you do play with either of the spreadsheets, please put them back the way they were before you leave. How? Instructions for that (and other things to do with the spreadsheets) here.

225 so far...
but missing out on Cav isn’t going to help things in the first week :)
175 so far from my Tour only team
diddly squit from the year-long guys
180 for Team Red Shorts so far (all from Cav)
95 for the Tour-only Team White Shorts (Farrar, Wiggins, Evans), where I dumped Hushovd at the last minute for Boonen. Yeah, we’ll see how that works out.

Last minute dumps are never good
I threw off Thor and DiLuca for Levi and Gasparotto. Ouch
I feel for you. Iin my yearlong, I dumped Burghardt for...wait for it...
Steegmans.

245 right now
I’ve got T-Mart and Tony, Wiggo, Farrar, and also have Millar, a pentfecta of Americans (DZ, Levi, Lance, and Big George) and, of course, Jens!
So basically… everyone on my team will be in the top 4 after the next stage, and I’m a near-lock to have the GC leader after tomorrow, too. Woohoo!
Although he earned me zero points so far
very pleased with Jerome Coppel’s start
sometimes life is a false flat
155 for Tour only VdS
conta, wiggo, evans, farrar.
Announcement
I plan to upload all the Tour-Only VDS teams tonight. Hopefully by tomorrow the Big Spreadsheet will be happening.

390?
Wow, that’s like Super-Human. Even extra-terrestrial. That’s quite the break-out performance there Pliny :)

I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, that's good." Jens!
Well my team’s very top-heavy – lots of one-pointers – got Cavendish, Cancellara and Contador, so as soon as one of those guys starts to falter I’m done. I need Haussler to do some work here.

In that case, I'm sure I don't hate you.

That's not true, you are a memeber here and Tourbecco has many knives...
Vamos Alberto!!!(Contador not Ricco)
How many of the TdF only teams
Have Contador and Cavendish? Quite a lot I guess?

I think Chris said he was going to post the Tour-only spreadsheet soon.
My Tour-only team has neither—no Cav because he’s on my year-long team, and no Contador because he’s Contador.

VDS by team
Columbia rules the first four stages of the Tour, with 2 wins and 3 days in green for Cav, 2 days in white for Tony Martin, and a handful of TTT points for their 5th place today.
Saxo is close on their heels with 212, all but the TTT points belonging to Fabulous Cancellara, whose 177 is second only to Cavendish.
The other two teams to have broken 100 are Astana (176) and Garmin (135), both with a pair of top-5 finishes and a bunch of TTT points. All the teams who have scored points so far:
Columbia: 224
Saxo: 212
Astana: 176
Garmin: 135
Cervelo: 70
Liquigas: 40
Agritubel: 35
Skil-Shimano: 35
Francais des Jeux: 30
Cofidis: 20
BBox: 10
Quick Step: 10
Silence-Lotto: 10

395 through Stage 5
That’s respectable, right?
Year long team continues it’s spiral du suckage at 26.
Over 31% of the available Tour points so far.
Yeah, you can have some respect for that.

290 after stage 5
Still lagging back but the Voeckler pick sure paid off. 8 out of 10 riders scoring points with only Astarloza and Jonathan Hivert yet to score any points.
La la la I can't hear you!

no I keep getting points from Cavendish and Cancellara. So far only one not producing points (aside from 1-pointers) is Haussler, I have a feeling this might change. Also I forgot I had Monfort, hopefully he makes a splash in the mountains.

same here
triple C (contador, cancellara, cavendish)
then bonuses from ignatiev, too bad popo got shelled yesterday, wouldve been 16 points
yeah I’m hoping Grabsch and Cancellara go 1-2 in the last TT ;)
by plinytheelder on Jul 8, 2009 1:43 PM EDT up reply actions
makes complete sense
I am wishing I had Cav now instead of Evans. I went with the pick the top three podium for Contador, Evans, A. Schleck. Got lucky with Voeckler as he will probably get in at least two more breaks this tour. He is like the french Scarponi. Also hoping Grabsch can pull off a better TT than the first one.
not so fast
i think evans is good for one stage win in the mountains still,
but too pricey for a stage win for me
He has an outside shot at top 5 I think
I just dont see all the guys in the top 5 staying there. So should move into top 5. Probably get a few points from high stages finishes in the mountains with a possible win. Also maybe a top 5 in the TT.
The only hope I have is for Cav to only win one or two more stages. Then his price remains pretty high for the points he gets you.
im banking on him staying green
if he wins two more stages… then thats just gravy ( im only expecting one more)
but cancellara definitely will top out at under 300 points, one more day in yellow, and a good placing in the last TT, not win coz he might kill his legs for the blues brothers. contador is picked by so many so nothing to gain there
444, I think
I was lucky enough to have Voeckler. And the (totally arbitrarily selected) Veikkanen continues to contribute.
The big dog, of course, is Cavendish.
I was going to ask if anyone had Veikkanen, that’s great, I assume you chose him at the end when randomly looking for a 1-pointer?
by plinytheelder on Jul 8, 2009 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions
I thought of adding him, but Leenoos wouldn't let me.
Among his many talents, Mark Cavendish can make it rain in Southern California--Chris Jones, ESPN Magazine
pretty much...
I had 3 points for two guys, so chose Veikkanen (who was 2 points, I think) and (even more randomly) Arashiro. Pretty successful for completely baseless picks.
terrible days for Portinado (100 points)
Menchov, Gesink!! Boonen who doesn’t do anything and took A Davis that already should give me some points…
The one who is doing fine is Hushovd, and my big hope is Monfort…Rogers, Karpets…don’t know anymore.
waiting for stage wins from Chavanel, Trofimov, Rolland, Costa, LL Sanchez, anyone…come on guys…
i’m thinking that i will finish the Tour with less points gain compared with Giro. And i have 19 guys against 4 or 5 i had in Giro!!
Not exactly doing so badly so far.

unless any of my team
grabs a yellow o r a polka dot from a long breakaway, which is very unlikely, i’m seeing out of top10 after Tour…
I need some freaking mountains...
A bit shy of 200 right now but with Conta, LLS, Moncoutie, Kruez, Leeenos for the pointy stuff I am biding my time…Also if Jens could break away on like 5 stages I wouldn’t complain either.
Ciolek racking up the points!
And he’s now third on the Points competition!!!
If by the end of the season he’s earned the requisite number of points I will laugh and laugh and laugh.

Yeah, Brice was priced just right!
He certainly has paid well for his single point.

Already made me 20 euro in another game I’m playing. I participated with 2 teams for 10 euro each. Break even before the first restday is upon us. Nice!
