JerkStrong - How Lance Armstrong is like Sarah Palin.
from Slate....By Bill Gifford
Is Lance Armstrong running for something? Had you shown up for the prologue of the Tour of California back in February you might have thought so. Thousands of fans crammed against barricades to see Armstrong's first race on American soil in almost four years, a 2.4-mile loop around the state capitol in Sacramento......

He gets it about 75% right, I think
but Palin? Really?

The analogy seems.. extreme isn’t the right word… limited maybe that the guys has to choose a political person.
Other than that, yeah: 75%.

I think Palin was a "person in the current news that I dislike" comparison
Which makes it quite random. At least Armstrong’s elevator makes it to the top floor.
Staring at the swim team gets you killed by a gang of dancing ninja men who know how to twirl.

yeah I agree with Figurehead’s take.
I liked the article on the whole, I wish it were a bit less of a rant, I think there are enough of those.

I don't understand why people make a big deal of LA appearing to have
political aspirations. He has a right to be in political office as much as any of the people already in them. He seems like the perfect match for politics. He’s already deeply involved in politics and “coming back to fight cancer” doesn’t mean he doesn’t have other reasons.

I think it's just
an easy way of being dismissive/portraying him as insincere. It’s not really specific to him. People dislike politicians, so to get them to dislike someone, hold that person up as a politician. Easy peasy.
