I'm always torn whether or not I agree with "it ain't bragging if it's true", but I think Chris is right on with his self assessment in this interview with Neal Rogers (Velonews)
I especially liked
"When a team signs me, they understand they are getting a rider that can help do leadouts — just ask any sprinter I’ve ever ridden with. I can help win a team time trial. I can go top 10 in a time trial when I am going well. I can ride with the best climbers in the world. I can save races tactically."

I don't think it's bragging...
…even if it weren’t true that he’s a badass, he’s selling himself to get the best new contract he can get. It’s more marketing than bragging, if you ask me. Now if he were to say that at the beginning of the season, aiming the comments at other riders…I could agree that it is bragging, even if it’s true, but this being contract season…
I can think of teams...
Where he’d be better than just the number four or five guy. I’d love to see him riding with Lance again, but then too I’d love to see him get the chance to ride for himself more often.
